Remove the Questing Addons

“WAAAAAH I don’t want to read quests and explore in an RPG! I want google maps to hold my hand so I can get purples and be cool WAAAH WAAAH WAAAH!”

Carbonite and other quest helper add-ons did not exist for most of Vanilla’s existence.

What’s wrong with wanting some authenticity to the gameplay?

Blizzard quest tracker has a limit of 3-5? Being able to track 10-15, seeing which quests are in which zones, and seeing which mobs drop quest objectives on the tooltip is handy.

I’m not a fan of GPS arrows but that’s not much different from getting a highlighted area on the map.

If there’s an addon that adds the yellow ! and ? for quests on the minimap (unless it’s already available in game, didn’t check minimap settings when I could) I’d probably get it, I didn’t practice leveling or plan to use a guide so missing quests because I didn’t see the quest giver would be a shame.

Nothing, these players just don’t want to actually play the damn game because reading and exploring is just too much RPG in their MMORPG.

Because we had similar in Vanilla.

Yeah! Let them take away those nasty quest addons!

YOU CAN TAKE MY ADDONS BUT YOU CAN’T TAKE AWAY MY 2ND MONITOR (that will have a more in depth guide than the in game addons)

By the time the mod gets broken most of us will be 60 and have no need for it, lol.

Modern day WoWhead is not spotty at best. It’s pinpoint accurate with comments that tell you any additional information you might need, and it’s used by a ton of people.

The thing about memory is that your arguments still apply. I tried a private server shortly after the announcement of Classic despite not playing it for over a decade and I didn’t get lost, I didn’t need to explore, I didn’t need to ask for help.

and since quest helper was an actual addon during Vanilla, it was part of the Vanilla experience. Maybe not yours or mine, but it was there.

Personally I have don’t have problems with remembering the storylines for the zones since they added quest helper to the stock UI.

It sounds more like some people just got bored with what questing was turning into and stopped paying attention.

At least you’ll be reading a guide and getting some sense of the world rather than just mindlessly following GPS point to point.

Why would this addon upset you? The alternative is to look to the right of your screen at the exact same thing. I’m sorry if you want the days of tabbing out to thottbot back… but I can assure you those days are not coming back.

Also, why does this matter to you? Who are you to police others and whether or not they should get a good sense of the world? I really don’t understand what your issue with this is?

While WoWhead will certainly detract from the experience, it still requires some reading and understanding of the world so you can at least understand where you’re going and what you’re doing.

Also just because you’re an outlier and your memory is 100% perfect doesn’t mean everyone else has perfect memory.

And even if everyone did have a photographic memory that’s still better than quest addons because you still have to use your brain a tiny bit!

You mean… Quest addons encouraged lazy writing from developers since no one cared about the quests anyway? Only the exp rewarded FROM them? gasp
Maybe it’s best for the longevity of Classic that such things are kept out of the game. Similar to how DBM has encouraged the development of fights that rely on the addon rather than vocal callouts by a raid lead. gasp

but that would be more like the spirit of classic so i agree use your second monitor lol

To be clear, back in vanilla I had a big green arrow pointing me in the direction I needed to go… these addons existed. I want my vanilla experience back? lol

You mad bro? lmao. We won, you lost. Get over yourself.

Why would I be mad? I’m not the one who can’t read and follow simple directions.

I’ve been a heavy detractor of the LFG addon, but I am indifferent with the questing addons.

Questing addons only screw up your individual experience. They do nothing to mine.

The LFG addon though and how it communicated, had the ability to shape social dynamics of this game across the board. Since it was pulling triggers from people not using it.

My friend, no one just read and followed the “directions,” this shows that you really never played back in the day. I wont judge for this. However, We all used thottbot.

Questing addons don’t isolate players that do not use them. But you obviously don’t understand the difference and just want to cry about things you don’t understand.

Yes, people who had a brain and could read absolutely did read the quests and follow the directions in said quest because this game is an RPG and that’s part of playing an RPG.

Of course you needed your hand held and still need it held, but no one said otherwise.
