Remove the Questing Addons

LFG addon has nothing to do with anything I said

Please don’t post these requests in bad faith. Quest helpers dont automate like the LFG tool was proposing to do. It has an inconsequential effect on the community, the LFG tool has the potential to have a disrupting effect

I doubt you were even around back then. There was Call to Arms but it didn’t auto invite. There was an AV addon that functioned similarly and Blizzard shut it down.

It was clear this addon wasn’t going to stick around. Just accept it and enjoy the launch.

How about you guys stop pissing your pants everytime someone tries to make you actually have to earn something in life. Heaven forbid you actually have to use your damn brain to get a quest finished, right? Oh man, you MIGHT actually have to pay attention to buffs and debuffs or windups etc without a bot handling every aspect of raiding FOR you.

People blindingly following a GPS to the next quest, never reading the text, never exploring, never adventuring has no effect on the community? Really?

What are you talking about? I am simply saying I want to playing Classic the same way I played Vanilla. Not asking for more or less.

I’m not posting these in bad faith.

If people want “Muh classic experience,” then they should have no problem with questing/map mods being broken. What happened to talking in general to ask around for quests? What happened to searching up search engines and forums such as thottbot?

If we’re going to go breaking specific mods for the WoW Vanilla flavor, then we should go full blast.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t be the “real” Classic experience.

Even back in Vanilla, Thottbot had maps showing you exactly where to go.

By your logic my experience is already ruined because I don’t even need those questing addons or database websites. I remember where most things in Vanilla is anyway for Alliance questing. Since I’ll be playing Alliance I already have no need to explore, get lost, ask for help, meet new people, etc.

We’re talking about a 15 year old game where every little corner of it is very well documented by online wikis and database sites. It’s not even out yet and I could tell you exactly where to go for any Horde quest by simply looking it up on Wowhead, despite the fact that I don’t know Horde questing.

That’s literally impossible. This isn’t Vanilla and it won’t ever be. Changes are being made to prevent it from becoming the disaster that is retail.

addons that affect the personal character vs addons that affect the community, apples to oranges mate.

So you’re making no point. Classic should not be like Vanilla was in your eyes. But it should not be like retail either. Go argue with someone else please.

If you want to relive the old days of WoW, addons were part of it. Not all, but the 2 types I mentioned were available. If you want an addon free game, that isn’t WoW. Perhaps you’re too used to FFXIV.

They better ban leveling guides because they make leveling even more mindless. Take down wowhead while you’re at it

Stating that looking something up and having in game overlays and handholding are VERY different things. It’s no different from a professor making you take notes manually vs just downloading a powerpoint. Sure, the information is the same, and sure it only takes you a second longer to get it, but you still process it through your own brain and make cognitive decisions. That’s why people who played WoW knew the map, knew the world, and knew the lore. I can’t remember what has even happened in each of the zones for the last who knows how many expansions because of the Blizz UI and quest addons before that.

If Blizzard decided to break quest helpers I wont complain. I’m merely agreeing how crucial it is for LFG to be banned. This tool had a decent amount of support, so whenever you bring up Quest Helpers, something thats never been on the table for banning before, it comes off as a bit vindictive

Thotbott was spotty at best and plenty of people didn’t know about it and use it. Also doing a quest from memory is still worlds apart then just following waypoint to waypoint.

You still might get lost, not remember things exactly, you’ll still actually have to explore the world to find markers and points of interest that you remember, rather than having everything served up to you on a silver platter.

We can’t recreate the Vanilla experience exactly, but no quest helpers is much closer to that experience than fully automated GPS.

This doesn’t seem like a salty overreaction to the LFG Addon being declared incompatible with the spirit of Classic. Surely this is an honest concern and you’re just trying to contribute to positive discussion.

Surely.

Incorrect

People alt-tabbed to websites and looked up the solution. Or yelled in Barrens chat

you guys are silly, “omg they took away my dungeon finder, let’s just take everything away cuz I didn’t get my way.”

lolol

I’m fine without addons period. I played Vanilla Addon free.

But stop crying. Apples and Oranges. It was the functionality of the LFG addon we didn’t like. Your just a salty LFG Zombie Pleb. Your post shows it.

a very important social aspect of vanilla was people helping each other with questing, general chat would be very active. with questing addons you don’t need anyones help, you don’t have to read the quest they tell you were to go and people are fine with those, yet they kill social interaction. doesn’t make sense if your arguing social interactions being so important.
