Remove the <Made by PlayerName> Tag from Crafted Legendaries

If not fully removing it, atleast have the crafter tag updated to whoever made the newest upgrade item for that legendary, very disappointed to see the 210 upgrade I made didn’t change the crafter name to myself.

Yeah, seeing “Made by Mecha<“toy”>” on a legendary item is not a great look

Bump and fully supported. I (and the Runesmith) made that Legendary.

Blizzard makes make Shadowlands lego say “Made my Runecarver” thanks…

Personally, I would ban ridiculous non-names and the people who use them.

What would be much better is checking crafter’s name before you buy. So if crafter is edge lord with name Pwndyomom, we don’t buy it. Some crafters do deserve their name on weapons.

I’ve tested that, it keeps the original player’s name.

I’m happy that I can keep on mine without having to level everything to the higher ranks.

Keep it as-is IMO.

Can we do that? I don’t run AH mods but I do have UI mods, so maybe I’m just missing this? I can see who is selling it, but not who crafted it. They aren’t always the same.

Massive bump to this.

So I’m not dealing with a Legendary here, but some 151 legs I crafted for myself last week, which of course had the “Made by Audrena” tag on them.

Today, for absolutely no reason, the tag now says “Made by Snesleywipes”.

So perhaps they’re doing something behind the scenes with “made by” to do with the legendary thing and have broken something else in the process. In all the years I’ve played this game, I’ve never seen a self-crafted bit of gear spontaneously get someone else’s “made by” tag, especially someone I don’t even know!

Honestly I rather 'like the made by (Player name)
Feels like it 'adds something for the makers of items.

Also just something funny about a sword named Unholy Evil Death Bringer, The Weeping God, or Chaz, having been forged by a blacksmith named Bob

Does deleting the item and using item restoration remove the “made by” tag?

If this is true then thank you, I really didn’t want to grind to rank 3 for my helm and wanted to keep my name from the rank 1 and 2 I made.

I’d say the grinding of Soul Ash, purchasing missives, and getting the memory would outweigh the crafter’s contribution of the base item. Take this “made by” crap off my item Blizzard…

Neither Deleting and resorting the item, nor putting it in void storage removes the tag. And since the crafter of my legendary was also on another server I’d imagine that transferring wouldn’t work either.

As someone who finds the whole thing incredibly unappealing when its a stranger, especially someone I’d never interact with on another server, it is quite frustrating that there is no way to even hide it.

I actually like the “made by player” tag. Makes me feel proud someone is wearing my gear. Hell it would be awesome seeing a streamer, rank 1, or even the average player with my name on the piece. So while on one hand I understand everyone’s distaste for the tag, I’m proud of my pieces

Id be fine with scribes being able to make a scroll that wipes the crafter name
but conversely, I took pride back when I used to see an axe with my name on it (back when blacksmiths made weapons worth using)

‘oh, sweetie, what are you wearing it gorgeous!’

“oh, this ol’ thing. It’s an original Nutgobbler”
