That is just in people’s head. Nothing “forces” you to fly. Period.

Frick no. That one area in Ajz-Kahet is bad enough for that BS.
When you just wanna get from Point A to Point B, you don’t want risks. You just wanna go there and do what you set out to do.
There’s plenty of risk once you’re already on the ground, plenty of battles to fight.
I don’t agree, i have absolutely loved flying around exploring everything, and the layering in the cave zones, is really really good, there is so much more depth like this than just running on “flat” ground.
It’s surprisingly simple for you to do this. You don’t even have to beg blizzard for changes, because it’s already in game!
Here’s how to level without flying:
Use a ground mount

The depths of the caves add depth to the gameplay, which really let you reach ever greater depths of enjoyment.

Boy don’t I know it. There’s a lot of junk floating around in people’s heads on this topic.
For everyone telling them just don’t fly, they can’t. There’s quite a few parts in main quests that you can’t get to if you don’t fly.
I agree it does kill the immersion and zones just feel meh with being able to fly, don’t get me started on being able to sky ride at level 10 lol.
However I like flying so I’ll take convenience over immersion lol
So… for those parts… you fly ONLY when it’s required then get back on your ground mount.
A literal non-issue.

I still think it would be interesting IF from time to time you had zones where you could be dismounted …
I didn’t play much of DF but way on sdisc with RL people while playing what all they heard was me cuss and swear loudly and a dragon turned out to be rousting i one of the tops of a tower … SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME…
Not all the time though once and a while is is fun to get the heart restarted … ALL the time WOULD definitely be tedious
At least you are honest about it killing the immersion of it. It’s true and we all know it.

I feel the same way as the OP. That is why I only use flying to gather ore. I use ground mounts for all exploration and quests. It makes for a much better experience.

You can literally RP walk the entire expansion if you want, with vanishingly few exceptions.
