I think this was the best expansion for leveling in a long time.
The zones felt realistic in scale for once and not so cramped and the flying needing a little bit of forethought to optimize movement is fun.
This is a much needed addition to the game that I hope they build upon for the zone structure and I don’t agree with you OP

No. Never. Ever since they gave up on the Pathfinder idea things became a whole lot more relaxed and enjoyable for me, my friends, and most of everyone I talk to. Not a single person enjoyed the grind to make travel less of a PITA.
If you like that, they have old flying as an option – or like others have said, use some self control and just take your flying mounts off your bars.

Can’t argue with that.
A lot of support for daddy Blizz timegating a ton of things because players can’t make choices on their own of what to play.

lol I don’t know if anyone has ever described climbing Mt. Everest as “fun”
Well you shouldn’t have flown. It greatly added to my experience.
The funny thing is the whiners about flying had their way from Warlords to Shadowlands and all it showed was that it was miserable and that the only use verticality had was as content barriers rather than cool places to explore (Legion sort of tried to be better about this but even then the mountain tops are often just there)

I remember when Blizz designed zones that clearly showed their hatred for the playerbase.
Sheer cliffs everywhere, making you go 10 miles to cross a 10 foot gap, tons and tons and tons of weak aggressive trash mobs whose only purpose is to knock you off your mount and force you to stop and fight them.
I remember places like Goregrind and the millions of tiny flowers that constantly attacked you, or places like Revendreth that were all “Where the frick am I supposed to go!?” with it’s 3, 4, 5+ floor multilayered areas with tons of aggressive NPCs and no way to tell where the frick to go to get anywhere.
Or, how about Zuldazar? Dear Lord, Zuldazar. Let’s put the only profession supplies vendor on the very top of the pyramid, and put all the profession trainers on the bottom of the pyramid. Yeah, that’s a great idea to show the playerbase how much we hate them.
Now, if zones had been designed like the original Nagrand, or Zangarmarsh, or many other similar areas, players wouldn’t have fought the Pathfinder thing anywhere near as much.

That was exactly my point, but you can’t tell these people anything.
Flying makes me feel more immersed than on the ground, especially in an expansion where multiple factions are in blimps or using gryphons. The immersion excuse is a lie. You still land to quest and such. Only thing that changes is the time of getting from point A to B.
Oh neat, this argument again:
“Flying breaks the narrative of the game.”
“If you don’t like it, use your ground mount.”
“This is an MMO, progression forces me to use a travel method I don’t prefer.”
Rinse, repeat.
We should remove all spell as well and just use our weapons… I feel robbed and OP I can kill things easily as a Priest. I should only be able to heal and not kill anything. Please remove all harmful spells except fondling on all Priests.

Only reason I enjoyed leveling at all was because I could fly.

The cool thing about getting playable drakes is that Soar being a racial is a near guarantee that the days of flight being locked being an annoying achiev grind are almost certainly gone.
I’ve had exactly one fun interaction with Warmode in the time I’ve played.
During the Shadowlands launch day, during the bit in the campaign where you get Renethal from the Maw, where there’s no respawn timer, with the respawn point for both factions being pretty much right next to him.
The spot just became a complete bloodbath for a while.
I leveled a character from 70 to 80 in dungeons. You don’t fly in any of them except the scripted part in the Rookery.
There you go, no flying, won’t ruin your “immersion”.
To be fair, if they had designed the game around ground mounts, the zone layouts would have been made with them in mind, quests would flow more linearly from area to area, and they would have tuned experience gains so that more of the game could be experienced a different way while also not sacrificing how long it takes. I’m not taking their side, as it’s their preference. I’m just justifying the alternative decision as being equally efficient provided the differences are accounted for.
bet you didnt think your post would backfire like it did but just so you understand this is a YOU problem and YOU do not speak for any of us . not a single person at Blizzard Forced you to Fly . please think about things like this in the future before you post

were you competing to level to 80? bizarre
He means, he wanted to WM gank but nobody will stay on the ground and so that’s hard for him to do.
His idea of “Competing” is “I wanna kill everybody in 2-3 seconds flat.”

I agree to some point …
also there SHOULD be mobs in the air to attack and dismount you … IT would add the risk …
BUT also skyriding requires energy THAT takes a long time to recoup so not sure how it would work given as it seems the old klight ability down’t work in TWW zones and the master flight seems way slower to me (could be I am used to flying with skyriding and going down hill too though NOT sure"
