Remove Flying. It killed the TWW Leveling Experience

yeah cuz fornite kids would prefer to be forced to be on the ground constantly dismounted by monsters wasting their free time after school.

That’s fair.

In final fantasy there are no ground or air mounts. Every mount you use is a ground mount, until it isn’t.

Once you unlock flying then everything flies no matter what.

On a giant magical horse it’s no big deal cuz magic. But when I’m going for a steam punk vibe with my gunbreaker riding into battle on a motorcycle, I press spacebar to jump but instead of jumping im swimming thru the air without any new animations.

I don’t think id feel so strongly if I was on any other mount though. Could be just a me thing

Here’s a novel idea…how about a little bit of both? Some areas that you can’t fly until after certain quests in that area, others where the landscapes are best seen for the first time flying thru them.
Flying is great, but it can be even more great when you get it for the first time. Remember how awesome skyriding was when we first got it? It was only that awesome because we didn’t have it before and suddenly normal flying seemed so slow.

Because world of warcraft is a setting with npcs/people living in it. So not everything in the game exists for the sake of the player.

I mean fortnite is kind of a walking simulator.

Really? What are the DF sales?

I feel like if they did this pro-flyers would lose their marbles and complain anyway

I’m all about player agency.

This is the wrong approach to designing a game.

By your logic the blizz team might as well add cheat codes into the game. Why not?

There is a lore reason for this. And it has to do with the aether currents.

We know that they are lower than Shadowlands.

Which is way lower than WoD, which had pathfinder.

Not exactly. I hate battle royals so fornite is not for me. But there is constantly something going on and it’s a pvp game. It’s not the same thing as being in a pve game and constantly being distracted from your main objective because you are being dismounted by monsters.

How about we keep flying all the time and people use their willpower to choose not to fly if they want to.

Ah yes player agency between how they move around the game is totally the same thing as giving players cheats /s

Player agency as long as it’s not harming other players or fundamentally compromising the balance of the game.

SL had 3.7 mil. WoD had 3.3, Legion had 3.3 and BFA had 3.4. You have no idea what you are talking about. Shocking.

It would be lower, especially if we’re comparing the same timeframe when the eastern version got sacked

Then, and this is a serious question, why did you fly?

They’ll say that were compelled to take the path of less resistance. Because they lack self control. Maybe something to go to therapy over rather than making it every other players problem.

It will never ever happen but fully removing flying MOUNTS would be the first huge step in a return to a true immersive mmorpg experience. Change my mind

It really makes me sad how many people see world exploration as some kind of punishment they have to endure before they can get to endgame.

I don’t understand why everyone wants to ignore most of the content, just to spam the same dungeons over and over again. I don’t understand how that’s what so many people prefer.

If it has wings someone somewhere would eventually put a saddle on it.

It’s not the same thing as being in a pve game and constantly being distracted from your main objective because you are being dismounted by monsters.

You’re genna think I’m crazy, but this is actually because of flying.

Why does blizzard keep putting dozens of mobs RIGHT on the road? Because you’re supposed to fly over them.

So I agree that mob density can be way too high in some retail zones. But if anything, that’s flying fault.

How about we keep flying all the time and people use their willpower to choose not to fly if they want to.

Because people don’t have that, and it will ruin the game.

That’s why. If your gambit is “if people have willpower then the game won’t be ruined,” then that’s a losing gambit my friend.

Ah yes player agency between how they move around the game is totally the same thing as giving players cheats

Yes. If I want to be able to hack through walls shouldn’t I be allowed to do that? You could just choose not to use it.

Player agency as long as it’s not harming

No, if you give players too much agency they will ruin the game for themselves and then turn around and blame the game designer.

Source?

IGN. Idk how to post links. Just google “DF sales compared to SL.”

But then they can’t punish everyone else that wants to fly lol.
