can’t turn the quest in, the graphics in area crash my computer. when I leave area the graphics are fine, go back, comp wants to crash

Hopefully… hopefully… this is fixed in Tuesday maintenance. I am at the part where I have to burn the root, but I can’t do it and my beefy computer crashes completely. Apparently getting rid of the root is what fixes the area, but my character can’t even log in - it crashes upon loading in. I can unstuck my toon, but finishing the quest would be preferred. ^_^;
Ironically, this may be part of the problem.
My CPU isn’t too bad (12-gen Intel i7) but my GPU is nearly a potato (NVidia GTX 1660) and I can stare at that corrupted root all day.
Definitely, the devs need to make that doodad compatible with users’ hardware.
This is a known issue that has been around since Legion was current. Since its been this long I doubt they’ll fix it
I think you are right, I turned down all of my settings to the absolute lowest possible settings, capped framerates, switched to DirectX11 and was able to login and very slowly finish the quest at a frame or two a second. After the root was gone, everything was smooth again.
I logged in during off hours (7 am pst) and was able to complete the quest but just barely. Hope that helps.
