If anything, I’ve remarked that I use Trade chat a lot more for crafting orders. That’s the purpose though, trade? Not life stories and other games, that’s what gen chat is meant for.

Nah people dont sell runs in trade its usually in services , but Trade is to Trade and to sell things you do know that right lol

I admit, I came in here almost thinking you meant Trade Chat as in the old youtube wow news show, the one with that pink haired girl. Whatever happened to her, anyway? I assume she did something stupid and made everyone hate her or something.
Still does on the servers I play on.
Sometimes folks talk in our trade chat on the realm my main is on. It is nice.
Stormrage / moonguard trade though is uh… interesting.
If you want to avoid this, play on RP-servers. Regular chat discussions do happen there.
On non populated realms/factions it is still like this. That said, you should not use any form of in game communication with other players. The report functionality is automated and results in silences snd suspensions with no human intervention. This is not good.
Nope. I remember when it was about actual trade and general chat was for all that.

I turned off both of those channels about 12 years ago. Can’t say I missed anything. 
And too many people not afraid to talk. TC has devolved into a political debate, with a surprising amount of people going with whatever’s most offensive and bigoted. Like, talk about game politics all you want, but we play the game to get away from the BS of real world problems.

No. Quite the opposite. She stopped with WoW because people kept sexualizing and dehumanizing her. I imagine she’s also focused on her kid she had last year. She’s not posted a video on YouTube for two years, which kind of coincides with the beginning of her pregnancy, too.
I only stay in trade chat so that I feel like there’s a lot of other people playing the game.
Still does in the servers i frequent at least.
I only have Trade Chat on for my bank alt, but it’s still pretty much what you described, people hanging out and chatting (in between the ads of people selling and buying crafting services), at least on MG-A.

I only remember trade chat being filled with racist and homophobic commentary, but that’s just moon guard for you, I guess.
First couple of weeks in OG Classic Barrens chat:
When do I get a mount? Yeah NSFW responses.
When do I get to fly? The trolls show up and make terrible suggestions. My favorite was ALT F4 opens up the mount screen.

I remember a few months back on stormrage trade chat we had a pretty decently long conversation about the crafting system. Stuff like what worked and what needs improving. Most of the time though its just weird unhinged stuff and jokes that were stale 15 yrs ago.
Trade chat in classic is…ho boy hope you like everyone trying to act like 8th graders on 4chan in 2008 cuz thats what you get
