Remember Vanilla Blizzard when the people running the company weren’t greedy racists? Those were good days. I miss the days when the powers that be gave a damn about its workers and their community. I think for me, it’s time to move on.
Gonna miss all of you, even the salty fanboys. Peace.
Tauren as Native Americans
Trolls as Caribbeans/Latin Americans
Orcs as [some people say Mongols, but the Barrens is just like Africa]
and Humans as white people?
And then eventually Pandaren as East Asians.
Early Blizzard was rather politically incorrect by modern standards, lmao. I mean they merely wanted humans to represent medieval Europeans, which was common in fantasy at the time and still is really, but let’s not pretend they were ever woke or progressive.
I wasn’t criticizing them. I’m saying that if Vanilla was released today, progressives would absolutely criticize and attempt to cancel them. Including probably the OP.
Yeah this is a mental disease, don’t become “woke” or “progressive” or any of that political Democrat / Republican idiot politic trashpile stuff that’s destroying society.
Its cool to be nice to people, but trying to be offended on another persons behalf is also incredibly disgusting.
The medieval European thing has been disproven several times as there are an absurd amount of inconsistencies.
These races weren’t meant to represent certain cultures, they were inspired by them however and I’m sorry to say that the Barrens does not reflect Africa as I’m sure you are aware there are massive portions covered in jungle as well as forest regions beneath the Sahel. South Africa’s (the country not the region) climate is actually remarkably similar to Europe.
No, I’m telling you there are significant cultural issues with saying “medieval Europeans” as if those in Rus dressed and had the same architecture as Gothic Western Europe.
There’s also no major pope (the light is an exceedingly broad term that doesn’t reflect the absolute dominance of Catholicism in medieval Europe).
If you take a tour of storm wind you’ll also notice there are guards of various races and many NPC who are non white. Your also neglecting the fact that medieval Europe was a lot more racially diverse than you’d think (I encourage you to research this) Again, inspired in some ways by Western Europeans yes but not a reflection of them.
