Remember the layoffs in 2019?

Overpaid douche fires 800 employees to give himself salary bonus

I miss Satoru Iwata… the gaming world feels barren without him.

Isn’t there a whole bunch of drama going on where shareholders are peeved at Big Bobby for continuing to eat money?

Also, this thread is going to last super long, calling it now.

one could argue giving the astronomical growth of the company under his time bobby has done his job very well and earned a good share of that money. where it gets murky is when a decision is best for the company but not best for the employees those are hard decisions to make and often you have to make the soulless one. the job is to make money not be everybody’s best friend sad but true

I do remember and it still makes me sad.

I wouldn’t be surprised if someone sneaky at Blizzard renamed Trade Prince Gallywix to “Kobby Botick” or something like that.

Then again, they hired professional hearthstone players and stuff. They had salaries… I remember a lady talking about how she was just hired, moved and then that thing happened. But my first thought, after thinking it was sad, was “a professional game player?”

They were wasting a lot of money on fluff, which added no income to the company.

If some efficiency experts came in, to try to increase profit, they would have done the same things.

They had a lot more CS too, yet we still never saw any CS on the forums. How much CS do you need, when people playing the game still have no real interaction with CS?

Yep

An investment group expressed concern over the morality of increasing his pay further. The company experienced huge growth during his tenure which, in my opinion, justifies his gigantic salary and stock options. (est. $30.1-30.7mil US). I’m not an investor, so I can’t comment on whether he should get a raise.

I think the layoffs were awful, especially when they reposted the same jobs with more responsibility and less overall pay. Part of me wonders why “at will” is an acceptable standard. As much as I hate to say it: It’s a business.

The whole point of the link is that he is a grade above even the other greedy CEOs.

He is crapstain, absolutely. But the worst, far from it. See: Jamie Dimon.

The layoffs happened across all Activision-Blizzard. Not just Blizzard Entertainment. Blizzard Entertainment CS handle Blizzard games. CS from other divisions of Activision-Blizzard wouldn’t handle Blizzard game CS issues. Just like Blizzard CS wouldn’t handle Call of Duty issues, or Candy Crush issues.
