i have 1100 mythic creste amd cant ugrade at all
so ridiculous
its basically 1 item per week and ive got lots of items to upgrade
there is no way by the next expac we will be able to upgrade gear
next week we get the upgrade tokens too
and wont be able to even utilize them
at least let us use

It’s the carrot on the stick, the entire game is designed around having you subbed for as long as possible
They usually remove the cap around .7 patchs, but yeah, it does suck.
You can upgrade the gear at the end when it no longer matters
Unpopular take, I’m sure: I miss when you could rest on your laurels a bit with gear.

The crest cap exists to keep an upper limit on the playing field throughout a patch cycle. People already complain about ilvl 280s queue’ing for +10-12 dungeons and lower geared people not being able to find a spot in week 8, imagine if there was no cap. If you aren’t 280 in week 3, congrats, you’re not getting invited to anything ever.
The crest cap may seem annoying but it benefits the vast majority of players.
Next week everyone can easily hit Myth of the Dawn if that remains 285 average ilvl. That doubles the spending power of crests. Most classes can be fully upgraded in the week of 5/19, which means the uncap will happen 5/26 at the soonest when dual-wielders can be maxed out. Most realistically it’ll be whenever 12.0.7 hits.

there is ZERO chance 285 is the average ilvl of players
what’s the point of upgrading existing if you can immediately crank every drop to the max with zero thought
Sounds like you wasted a bunch of crests somewhere if you aren’t skimming the edge of 285. Sorry. (Not sorry.)

I have multiple mythics that are 2/6– im 1100 cresta already and with 100 each week that means 1 upgrade a week thats it.
At this rate the next xpac will be out, or the relevancy of upgrading will be a moot point due to everything done already.

283 give or take this week. Those that are a bit luckier will be 284 285. This is assuming you been planning your gear since day 1 of the season.
Sounds like you’ve been wasting myth crests, did you use them on 1/6 myth items?
In 3 more weeks I will be able to hit max myth in every slot, right now I am only missing 2 items from max, but still have 3 hero items to replace.

1- And how is that bad?
2- Are you upgrading 1/6 myth items? That might explain why. You’re wasting myth crests.
Get a hero item, upgrade it to 6/6 and that makes 1/6-2/6 free, meaning no myth crest cost, meaning you only need 80 crests instead of 100.
It doesn’t even take planning, just prioritizing. Maybe you don’t need 6/6 on an item you just got.

You’re investing in the slot, not the item.
Tru, but you can also wait to get a hero piece to leapfrog before upgrading on the myth track. Spend that week’s crests on a mythic embellished craft instead. Still doesn’t take significant planning ahead, just don’t spend impulsively.
look at my gear– its all 2/6 that ive not upgraded.
im 282 i can get to 283 as i WASTED crests 1 mos ago upgrading a heart of the wind that sims well, but doesnt perform well in game.
