With all the issues going on at Blizzard, I’m not betting on them making the expansion every two years window and having the next expansion out in 2022. I’d wager 2023, with everything going on.
November next year. 9.2 releases February with perhaps some form of minor patch after that. 10 goes into Alpha around June and then into beta in August with a November release.
I think it depends heavily on what 10.0 will be and if it’ll be the final expansion. I’ve read we’re supposed to return to Azeroth, but what other land is there to discover? Might we get another Cataclysm style revamp?
My best guess would be Q4 2022. But could see it taking into Q1 2023.
Futurama Fry Squinting Gif.
I think it’ll be Fall 2022 for sure. I think the reason why SL has been so lacking in content and slow has been because they’re putting more effort and time into the content in 10.0.
Or maybe that’s just what I want to believe is happening…
January 2022 if we’re lucky, but that would be wishful thinking.
To answer this you first have to ask yourself something: What is the exact date of the first major Final Fantasy content patch in 2023?
That date. That’s the exact date that WoW will release it’s next expansion.
That’s in like a week. Did you mean 2023?
Some Tuesday
No. The sooner the better.
November 15 2022
October 2022. It won’t be ready but I don’t think blizz will take the time they need to get things right.
Personally I can’t see a 2022 release happening. 9.2 in March then a 9.2.5 in August or so with a PTR for 10.0 shortly after that.
the cinematic for the new expansion don’t release 1 year before its actually out ?
Shadowlands cinematic 2019 1 nov >>> launch 2020 23 nov
November 2023
Either last quarter of 2022 or first quarter of 2023. Depends really on when 9.2 hits, if there is a 9.2.5, and how long they run the beta, really hope it’s more of a Legion situation where they really take their time and try to get it right.
They really need to stop thinking short term and worrying about long term. Basically, if it takes longer, you lose players, but if it ends up being a great expansion, they will gain in the long term.
I’m going to say around the same time SL released in November 2022 at the earliest with early to mid Jan 2023 at the latest.
We don’t have a preview, a leak, or even an announcement of 10.0 yet.
In general, working off an interview statement from a long time ago, we have an accepted conventional wisdom that Blizzard is working on the game 2 expansions ahead: IE Blizz was working on SL during Legion, and would be working on 10.0 during BFA…
…but with how Blizzard is handling covid, the upcoming strike, the company being in “disarray” to be as kind as I can, Unionization and likely restructuring coming up, the loss of over half their players, etc etc… The 2 expansion rule is almost certainly a thing of the past.
Blizzard is almost certainly very, VERY behind and I would be very surprised if 11.0 was being worked on at all right now, and 10.0 is probably still bare-bones if even that.
Remember when they showed Tazavesh in February at Blizzconline and it was basically a couple artists renders? That’s probably where they are right now on 10.0. and it took about 6 months from then to get it live. These things take time even in good conditions.
Now even if we work off of a supposed release date we have a very probable strike coming up. So I would guess tack on another few months for just that.
We would have normally gotten the 10.0 preview and announcement at November’s Blizzcon a month ago, but obviously that didn’t happen.
In conclusion:
2022 winter at the VERY earliest. That’s a full year from now.
Mid 2023 is much more likely. That’s about 17 months.
Winter 2024 is probably unlikely. That’s about 2 years, or about the time it takes for a new AAA title after a studio announces it’s under development.
