Reinvigorate World PVP - More Rewarding Kills

tl;dr make world pvp more appealing by making it more rewarding through increased honor gained from HKs

I recently transferred from my dead server, Bigglesworth (RIP), to Whitemane to bring some of the Alliance’s glory to a horde dominated server (~82%). After talking with players on Benediction, there seems to be a common theme: world pvp is dead. This is a shame, because world pvp is a huge part of the social aspect of World of Warcraft- I have made countless fantastic memories from ad-hoc groupings to combat roving world pvp gangs.

The cause is obvious- servers as unbalanced as these give no real reason for world pvp since one faction outweighs the other so heavily.

Well what’s the best way to encourage gamers to do something? Incentivize them. To that end, I think one of the best ways we can encourage world pvp in this world of imbalanced servers is a faction-specific buff, for the underdog faction on the server (if it’s more than a 70/30 split), that grants 3x the honor reward for killing an opposing player in world pvp. Call the buff Guerilla Warfare. Give unbalanced servers like Whitemane a reason to bring back alliance players.

If it’s too difficult, or too embarrassing, to institute a buff that depends on a criteria like server faction population imbalance then just say the hell with it and triple the world pvp honor rewards across the board.

Going from 21 honor to 63 honor for killing a 70 isn’t going to be game breaking enough to make wpvp honor farming a viable alternative to the premade sweaty pre made bgs, but it is enough to help reinvigorate world pvp and draw some more people into it.

My sympathies to the Horde players on Benediction who suffer from this the most- they don’t even enough of a server presence to make pre mades for battlegrounds (estimated 300-600 horde players left) and any that do want to have viable pvp rewards are forced to server transfer. Feels bad man.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk

People don’t want world PVP. If they did, they wouldn’t have created one faction PVP servers.

I kill and camp every horde I see on Benediction.

Incorrect. Plenty of people want world pvp, one-faction PVP servers are merely the market’s answer to Blizzard’s inability to adequately reward world pvpers. It is also an unfortunate answer to Blizzard’s inability to faction cap servers, allowing for servers to reach +80% faction populations.

No they don’t. Were you here for Phase two of Classic? Are you aware of the current PVP server dilemma?

People don’t want world PVP. They want to gank lowbies.

You have 4072 posts so I can only assume you do not actually play World of Warcraft, but yes- I went through phase 2 on Bigglesworth, a 70% horde pvp server. All it did was make me stronger and lust for world PVP even more.

People want balanced wpvp and that just in the game anymore.

So you have people either give up wpvp for the ability to play the game with other players.

Wpvp is a meme in this version of the game, no max levels are running around doing anything in the world they are flying to where they need to go and zoning in.

Whitemane was balanced all of classic.

Not a counter point.

That’s great, for everyone else, they either left that server or left the game entirely.

That’s just not true. If it were true, we wouldn’t have Earthfury, Sulfurus, Bigglesworth, Netherwind… basically every PVP server except Grobbulus.

Every PVP server is heavily dominated by one faction because the world PVP players want is to either kill lowbies or dog pile the opposing faction 20 to 1.

People can say whatever they want on the forums, but the numbers don’t lie.

You’re looking at current pictures go back to when the servers first launched…

Once free transfers and pay transfers happened that’s when server started flopping because one side would always be outnumbered and they would leave.

This is 100% true at the start of the game.

Not a denial. Also none of what you said provides any reason to not increase wpvp HK honor gained, so far you’re just complaining? Voting for removing world pvp entirely? I’m not sure, but I’d love triple honor for killing people like you on whitemane :)))

They really dont. Maybe some but its the minority. Blizzard is doing nothing and maybe thats the biggest problem, but the players are the ones choosing these lopsided megaservers with no WPvP. They had the choice and opted out. Blizzard cant force them to enjoy it

Bene has no Horde.

I think you’re wrong, there are plenty of people that do they just don’t feel empowered due to the lopsided servers. We do agree that blizzard is doing nothing, and while you are correct Blizzard cannot force people onto imbalanced servers they CAN: reward the players that are still there, carrying on a major aspect of the game.

Killed 6 the other day at Caverns of Time.

Also these versions of the game wpvp means nothing to a lot of people.

In classic it was the end game because people ranked and it was fun controlling a zone.

Tbc and beyond it literally means nothing, there is no more clout to be had to be a good dueler, you want clout go get glad, wpvp doesn’t do anything and these versions reinforce that with flying.

You can think im wrong all day

The proof is there

lol

It’s not about clout, it’s about giving people the ability to get honor gear at a reasonable rate via wpvp. How is that not obvious?

Why?

Bgs are many many times faster.

Even if you increased honor gains from killing that would still make Bgs even more better.

This thread is about increasing honor gains from HKs in wpvp only. Please go re-read the OP.
