This topic is open to all who enjoy playing Alliance, just wondering what neutral Allied Race/Species would be exciting and appropriate in the coming expansions that would be the equivalent to Horde getting the Earthen, which uses the Dwarves character body/rig? My personal thoughts is that it would be between Tauren, Forsaken, or Troll. But Blizzard would say of course it’s not from the same faction or group, but something similar that uses the player rig.
Long Version with Context:
In the different interviews with Morgan Day, then Marie Hamilton and Kristi Moray respectively, from the WoW Q&A at Blizzcon, they acknowledged that they keep each different species in mind and try to see when their story and culture would be relevant. And while they confirm that this is the first time Horde will get Dwarves, they made the distinction that Earthen are not Dwarves and as such are different than all the Dwarves we are familiar with. So while similar, they are not the same.
Main Point:
What is the Horde counterpart to Dwarves that you would like to see as an upcoming neutral Allied Race? WoW has done such a good job at paralleling Dwarves to many Horde races, so it’s not an easy comparison like Humans are versus Orcs. Dwarves were once the most versatile race with most classes like Trolls and both races had bonuses as Hunters. Dwarves has similar starting starting stats and kinda similar racials (crit and tankiness) as Tauren. Dwarves has a cool underground city like the Forsaken. So in a manner of speaking, all the other Vanilla races can be considered the Horde’s dwarf equivalent.
You already got Void Elves which are our Blood Elves in Legion followed by almost all of our customizations, it’s about time we get an Alliance race for Horde side.
Personally I wouldn’t of picked Dwarves but it’s better than nothing and if they have a racial that’s as good as fireblood and stoneform it will be well worth the wait.
No, Nightborne aren’t Night Elves, they look nothing alike they botched the model to screw over Horde and Horde players from actually having Night Elves while Alliance gained an unaltered Horde model which was and is our top model, it’s nowhere near the same.
Earthen Dwarves won’t be the same either but at least thus far they will be unaltered which opens doors for customization options.
You are talking to a person who has a strange aversion to void elves and high elves and their respective fandoms. Check their post history and see it yourself.
Just warning you in advance in case you want to avoid sterile discussions that will lead you no where.
As for the OP, I think we getting (some type of) Forsaken could be a bright solution. In the end, they too have been drifting towards “neutrality”.
and you guys effectively got our nelves with the nightborn they use the same rig they just got a different cover. and now you’re effectively getting our dwarves.
But we didn’t because I can’t look like you on Horde side, we got a weird altered model with none of the same customizations, a weird stance and weirder looking ears.
It’s still not the same as Blood Elves and Void Elves, we got an altered model, with different stance, different customizations and even with improvements I still can’t actually be a Horde Night Elf so no it’s not the same.
Neurbians are the obvious pick. Tuskar would be cool as well. If we’re talking about races that share models that’s a tough one. I honestly am not a fan of allied races as a whole because I think a lot of them can just be customizations. That said I main a demon hunter so I’m stuck playing an elf either way.
I’d argue that this is a positive thing, not negative — a completely independent, splinter group is supposed to be visually distinct from the group they’re derived from.
By far the most complained about issue relating to the Nightborne is, ultimately, that they lost almost all of their “regal savagery” when Blizzard made them too similar to Night Elves.
