You’re not comparing it to that though, because if you genuinely were, you wouldn’t be claiming that the cinematic shown in the OP is worse, because it’s not. Is it a great cinematic on the same level as Reckoning? No. It’s an in-engine cutscene using models from the actual game itself. It’s still a damn side better than what was delivered in 2003, and that’s the point.
When you have a remaster, you’re supposed to compare the original title, and what was present there, to what is provided now, and if you genuinely think that TFT or ROC’s graphics and cinematic quality is better than Reforged, then you need to get your head checked for brain damage.
better audio choice, check. better battle sounds, check, better musical accompaniment, check. the only thing worse is the graphics. and that barely counts for anything in this day and age.
Seriously. The original had a very anime action feel. This was plodding and extremely bad compared to how Blizzard usually does cinematics. I’m amazed this made it past QA.
Isn’t looking good the entire point of a remaster? Hate to be “that guy” but it’s 2020 and YouTubers can deepfake Arnold Schwarzenegger onto Bill Hader’s face. Blizzard is a giant media franchise… They can do better.
QA playtest to find bugs, and once they find bugs, they report them to the developers. That is their only role. It is not to ‘rate cinematics and determine if something is good or bad’.
Basically, QA’s job is this:
Player: “My game crashed while running up the stairs in zone B.”
Devs: “Hey, QA, we’ve got a report of a game crashing when players run up stairs in zone B. Go test the stairs and try to replicate it.”
QA then runs up and down those stairs 10,000+ times until they either replicate the bug and lock it down for the devs to fix, or until they’re tasked to find another bug because the one they’re trying to find can’t be replicated.
You’re being pedantic. When I said QA, whatever quality control that their group usually has to ensure they release a polished and complete product. One of Blizzard’s hallmarks over the years is they often refused to release something they were not proud of (ie: Ghost, Lord of the Clans, etc), if the quality was not up to par with their standard.
This fell well short of that mark for the quick buck.
Nobody is going to create content just for Blizzard to further monetise it for themselves. This is horribly anti-consumer.
Not only can they monetise your creation without your approval, they don’t even need to list you as the creator.
The map creator is one of the biggest draws to WC3. Driving creators off to other games is a huge shame for everyone. With this one decision, Blizzard has cut off creator support completely.
Off topic but I son’t see this opinion enough. If anyone went in expecting Movie Of The Century, they were in the wrong cinema. It was fun for what it was and I’ve watched a few times. Actually, I sort of want to watch it again.
