Reddit brass is laying the hammer down against Reddit mods /r/WoW should come back soon!

Reddit plans to offer an IPO. Reddit doesn’t make a profit. This is their way to appear to have a profit in order to drive up the stock price.

Is it really a wonderful thing? Since what we’re hearing is Reddit saying “we want to charge more money for the free content created by unpaid volunteers, so get your butts back to work, stupid unpaid volunteer slaves!! How dare you not keep working??”

Personally, I’m fine to be without Reddit for a bit to see Reddit taken down a notch. Don’t forget, LOTS OF OTHER SITES are watching to see how this falls out to see if they can screw people over the exact same way. I want to see it crash and burn and scare off other sites from trying the same.

Good, reddit mods are boot lickers.

Those are just people who have not been enlightened by the superior glory that is r/wowcirclejerk.

I don’t like the api changes either.

But terrible mods potentially getting struck down is a good consolation prize, because anyone who thought reddit would tolerate a blackout for more than a few days is an absolute retard.

But the mods have no actual ownership of their communities so there is no way they can actually “win.” Really, the only way for this to succeed is for users to boycott which isnt going to happen

I’m sure reddit and the other sites know that they hold all the cards and protests will have minimal impacts

I dont know jack about reddit mod stuff, but I thought the blackout was supposed to annoy reddit.

Oh it annoyed reddit all right. And then some subs decided not to reopen after 2 days so reddit threatened to replace the mods and force them to reopen.

It probably is, but I don’t really care personally because I’m not a redditor. It’s really funny watching reddit mods systematically lose the only power they felt like they had.

Turns out a 2 day “strike” doesn’t really work as well as an indefinite strike.

Less than 0.00001% of the users of reddit care about what’s happening with the api. It’s more annoying than anything for them to shut the sub down.

I’m not a fan of Reddit for a lot of reasons… but, why should r WoW follow soon?

I thought reddit “subforums” were just like any other forum post on the internet except that the thread creator gets to moderate their own thread.

Very much like private groups on FB.

So what if one is closed. Seems like it would be just as easy to start another.

Not sure what info a reddit thread would have that wowhead or icyveins didn’t already have years ago.

The only thing that stands out to me are exploits that aren’t shared on wowhead or here for obvious reasons.

7 power tripping mods are preventing 3m subscribers from using an information resource sub and are funneling the users to their discord. They should all be replaced.

Wow forums are full of boot lickers who love to see the powerful crush everyone.

Doubt it’s because they’re powerful people, so probably were crushed in the past and wish the same fate to everyone else.

There have already been some impacts. There have been a lot of advertisers stopping their ads until the boycott is over. Also, many mods are already looking into other platforms which you could argue are “less popular”, however if a bunch of popular groups went there at once those platforms could suddenly be the place to be.

Remember, the mods do NOT actually have to WIN… They only have to cause Reddit to lose.

Mods don’t matter, though. If they make too much trouble, they can be replaced.

Then the FCC or other govt agencies should get involved. Sounds like anti trust issues to me.

Reddit Janitors try to make themselves seem important and they get put in their place. Entertaining stuff.

Not to say that all reddit jani’s are bad but you’ll find the majority of people that want that position usually don’t really care about the communities.

US has regulatory capture.

It is highly unusual to see any regulatory agency address insider trading, monopolies, anticompete agreements, or just standard price fixing/gouging.

We have little means left to fight back. It’s sad to see so many people cheer the powerful on.
