Recent Actions Against Exploitative Accounts -- June 2023

Youre right, theyd just buy the account

Back when wrath was current you could buy a bunch of PvP daggers off the area 52 vendor in outlands and make really good gold after the buy back CD wore off. That might be why the bots are in BGs.

FF14 posts weekly as to how many accounts get banned or temp bans for botting or bad actors. If Blizzard could do this weekly across all their games it might help to reduce the amount of work done on a larger scale. What I have seen for FF14 is 4k to 6k a week.

All of WoW, not just WoW classic, correct?

I wonder what the number of WoW classic accounts banned looks like.

Difference is people bought 5k for mount or more for consumes and boes. They weren’t buying a full raid loot table like they are now.

NOTHING?
People paid just as much gold to boost their chars to max level, they paid gold to get arena rating, for mounts summons and other services. And as Owns mention if you change loot system people go to buying accounts.

Gold is valuable in the game, well was

People were farming for gold caps before gdkps even came out.

I understand that in GDKPs you see people with gold so you immediately make assumptions and I am sure there are people that buy gold and then go to gdkp, but I cant control what other people do(blizzard should).

Lets imagine there are no bots, no gold sellers, no token and we are back in classic, I would still go to a gdkp raid with my hard farmed gold, I like to control my destiny instead of praying to some random loot council or a lucky roll.

I have never bought gold, but I like GDKPs, because i think its a pretty good system that works out for everyone, you either get loot or gold. I think organizer cuts are a fat scam, we would 100% split between everyone back in the day. Nowadays I have seen some ridiculous %host cuts.

Its completely fine to buy services in the game with gold from other players or raids, I am all for people that made AH moves or farmed gold in the game to enjoy it, its not okay to take your IRL money and be able to buy gold.

I honestly didn’t know I signed up for a pay to win game, until boost came out and since token I don’t log on anymore.

They didnt have to, back then they were buying accounts that had toons already in the gear.

? it was p2w before the token, rmt been a thing since 2004
no one is even buying the token, they are still buying illegal gold. Every game has some sort of RMT market.

Man, you complain about them not doing anything, and when they start the process (no matter how it’s worded or posted, OR how many times) you can’t be positive about any of it. What a bunch of babies. If you distrust them and what they do or how they go about things then feel free to save your money and leave. Good god. You log on and play with no problem, but the minute they make a change or post, here comes the complain/blame game
 ridiculous.

Theyre bitter people man. Theyre like that ex that refuses to get over it

Because the post doesn’t mean anything.

The post literally says anywhere between 0 and 127014 (or whatever number they use for this months copy/pasta) classic bots were punished.

It’s meaningless.

You’d never get invited to a group if you said your dps was “between 0 and 15k” either cause it’d be meaningless.

How can there be 360k account closures when there are only 7 million people in the world?

There’s no real reason to assume the number is made up. Blizz does close a lot of bot accounts.

The bots then simply update to avoid that detection, then are right back.

Players also still tend to see a lot of bots in game because the bans usually come in mass ban waves, not individually given out one by one as they are reported.

There are always going to be bots. It’s pretty impossible to get rid of them (especially when it is profitable to run them). That doesn’t mean that Blizz isn’t doing anything about it.

I have no doubts about their numbers being accurate, I just don’t think that number is in any way meaningful for classic, so putting the post on the classic forum and signing it with “the classic team” feels like gaslighting more than anything else.

I still find it better than radio silence with constant threads about how people think blizz is doing nothing about bots, and that if they were personally hired, that they could end all botting in a day.

The Kernel has definately been cracked open and the Warden anti-cheat does nothing against accounts who are mass-botting or worse, using AHK and other programs to cheat in Arenas and PVP.

Its become a legitimate problem and actual PVPers who want to play Arena can’t due to the constant cheating, queuesniping and dodging.

People keep saying that at least blizzard is doing something in this forum, but they aren’t. They’ve said time and time again that most bots are banned via in game reporting. We are doing this, they are doing nothing except bragging about all the work the players put in too ban these bots.

If they truly wanted too fight the bot war they would make game improvements instead of just saying yeah we banned bots. It is an unwinnable war, but the scale they are fighting it on is because lack of any effort too fight it.

Take mining for example on my server Titanium ore has quadrupled from pre epic gem launch. I’m sure this has increased the number of mining bots 10x and all they would have to do to devalue the bots would be increase titanium ore spawn or node yield, but #nochanges crowd trained blizzard that changes are bad. It shouldn’t cost 5k to regem your gear, all that does is incentivize the credit card swiping which feeds blizzards laziness because they are making money (why fight botting when you can profit instead).

This is one example of many, devalue the gold and the # of bots will decrease because it won’t be as profitable.

I fixed that for you.

Multi billion dollar company and they can’t even manage their own forum. What does that say about their credibility?
