Reason why "everyone should get gear" makes sense

You know, normally I’m pretty neutral on the gear acquisition topic. I understand why Mythic players want regular people away from “their gear”.

At the same time, I also agree with the argument that in this period of gaming, it really doesn’t matter what the other player has gear wise. the pillars are pretty silo’d.

HOWEVER… this period is a unique one. Blizzard should really have zero issue opening the flood gates of loot… here’s why

  1. End of Expansion. Not only just an expansion end. But we are also getting a huge stat squish. Any gear obtained now will be completely useless in a few months.
  2. Legion Remix. A lot of content over there that players will enjoy. Retail will take a activity hit. Let people have some fun while they are in TWW
  3. 11.2.7 Housing is coming. OH MAN will that consume people’s time leading up to Midnight pre-patch.

So who cares if everyone has a couple months of melting enemies. One last hoorah for fun before we all become weak again.

This has been true since the game’s inception.

Other versions of the game then retail have been available for play since 2019.

This has nothing to do with anything.

Getting a few % from several myth track upgrades doesn’t suddenly melt content.

We will be getting new gear through Turbo Boost, faster Delve Journey and other catch up things coming along. Then the pre patch hits and it will all be obsolete.

But… everyone can get gear, and everyone can get gear from the activities that they choose to participate in. If you don’t participate in an activity, why should you get gear that is associated with that activity?

“Everyone should get gear” does make sense… but you talking about Mythic doesn’t. Not in the context of what you said.

You know… they should really turn the 2nd half of season 3 into a type of collector’s bounty, but for current content.

Not me, I think everyone should be able to get near-max ilvl through the content of their choosing…even solo play. Maybe it takes a bit longer for the ‘easier’ methods, but gearing is such a core part of the game that I think everyone should have access to it no matter their skill level. I don’t play m+ to flaunt my gear and I couldn’t care less what gear other people have.

There is only one reason to limit the best gear to mythic raiding. If other people have a means of getting that gear, mythic raiders will feel less special. That’s it. Allowing non-mythic raiders to buy mythic raid trinkets won’t impact balance or progression this far into the season. Serious progression will already be over by the time dinars hit. Mythic gear is limited so mythic raiders feelings don’t get hurt.

My only gripe with gear is that it should be better itemized so people can get their BiS stats wise from any form of content. Other than that there’s no way Blizz would let people get gear by the truckload, the pursuit of gear is the entire game.

I’m pretty okay with gear acquisition as it currently lays out; I’ve removed myself from the majority of non-solo play due to being older and wanting to sit and play my way without subjecting myself to having to maintain a schedule with a guild, or the whims of pugging, and can easily get the mythic track appearances for tier sets, and always get weapon appearances later.

That said with the upgrade system, I do think that it should move away from the locked track system, and more towards one track, that emphasizes time investment, and effort of content. Mythic raiders, gladiator pvpers and mythic+ rating pushers should absolutely be fully max geared within less than a handful of weeks. But I don’t really see why someone who bashes their face against the wall in LFR every single week can’t also attain some maxed out pieces for sticking with that hellhole the entire season.

And the idea of having a “gearing” event, that gates or locks gear this late into the expac/season seems goofy in general, not just the turbo boost, but the past few pre-patch “events” have also been largely irrelevant in terms of what level gear they provided.

Seems like you care a good bit

No, it doesn’t make sense.

It’s just taking away rewards.

Removing gear from the game for everyone makes more sense than suggestions of letting people fail upwards or devaluing prestige of stuff.

You have a fetish for removing stuff from this game I swear

The context should be clear that what was meant was that I don’t mind if people have good gear or similar gear as me for doing ‘easy’ content’. You know what context is right?

I don’t like doing trivial nonsense to access parts of the game that I enjoy.

If I can have insta bis on any character I play, I’d have way more fun.

Gotcha
So, as per the context, you have great care

Nah, you miss the point again. I’m just saying I think it’s better for the game…no where do I say or suggest how impactful it is or how much I care. I didn’t start this topic. Now, if you saw me post this every other day you would have good reason to believe that I care a lot about it.

Not really. That argument has been used since vanilla long before raid tiers were a thing. Raiders were “elitest” because they got powerful tier sets just because they could clear AQ40 or Naxx and it wasn’t fair to others.

It doesn’t matter how things are setup, there will be people that always complain that it’s not fair that other people can get gear that they can’t.

I know what you’re expressing (The opinion is bad btw). To take that opinion puts you in a place of caring about the topic to begin with.

I don’t claim not to care at all, it’s that I don’t care “greatly” or “a good bit” like you say. It’s easy to say an opinion is bad without saying anything of substance.

The developers would seem to agree because in a certain sense that’s the direction the game is moving toward. Solo players like delvers do have the ability to get near max ilvl entirely on their own…it just takes a lot longer…I just think blizzard should lean even more into it and extend it to all game modes. Raiders should be able to fully gear through raid…pvp’ers should be able to fully gear through pvp, etc., I don’t think you should ever be compelled to do content you don’t want to do for the sake of gear because again, gearing is a core part of the game.
