thats a very poor excuse. so by taking all the portals out of iron forge for example i need to go to the newer place called storm wind to get to the portal i need?

well, depending on the portal you need you won’t necessarily have to go to Stormwind for it.
A few have been removed from the game altogether.

Remember when they lied and told us gimping our movement wasn’t about us “staring at the trees?” Well, know we know that was a lie. Gotta love the devs talking out of both sides there!
Then there’s the interview he gives in German (gotta love he keeps giving those ones he can blame on “mistranslations” or whatever lame excuse he can come up with!) where he still pulls the “silent majority” for “not knowing what players want” card (again). Then pretends the problems with bfa are because they didn’t give the necklace grind more story.

Anywhere else, someone this inept, out of touch, and had cost their company this much money would have been fired years ago. And yet, he remains, riding wow down the drain claiming the whole while he doesn’t know what’s wrong.
Like nero, he fiddles while our once great city burns. Except we know with certainty who started this fire. Then of course, he looks for someone else to blame it all on.
…which according to the interview Brahmina linked, is of course the players. Because we can’t be trusted to play the game that we pay for how we like. Because watcher isn’t happy unless he’s micromanaging every last second of everyone’s free time and fun.
It’s a small miracle we don’t have a start up sequence that forces us to perform an elaborate keystroke sequence he designed just to start up the game.

it is not “your” game.

learning to navigate the world is a good thing for new players, not a bad thing.
Otherwise, there are extreme reactions like the ones we’re seeing here from people who think the “only” way to access certain places is via specific portals which were added for the duration of a past expansion.
…and those “new players” you’re so concerned about, get given a boost, they aren’t being “forced” to buy boosts.

Someone pointed out that there clearly is a breakdown, used for internal purposes.
Regardless, it doesn’t really matter.
Thankfully, it seems a lot of posters have finally accepted that MAU’s are the “go to” metric, and they’ve moved on from obsessing about the “time played” thing.
i can assure you, it was a whole lot more than one or two people who were claiming that they put their hearthstone in LDAL during Legion.

Why am I to blame when my pathways are erased by someone else? Your posts come across less as ‘helping you adjust to the changes’ as they do ‘why weren’t you doing it this way all along, you dingdong?’ Of course we are annoyed.

You can’t claim to be helping new players but then remove portals to IF or TB.

Actually, I had already quoted you once about it. I shouldn’t have to repeat my quotes.
MAU is only one measurement they use in their quarterly reports. Time played is another measurement they use. MAUs is a very high level measurement. It does not really show that the money being spent on developing a game is actually worth it.
However, time played can be used as a drilled down measurement to see if people are actually spending time in the game vs, subscribing and going off to play something else.
Time played in current content drills it down even further, measuring whether those players are spending their time playing what was recently developed, or are they spending their time someplace else in the game.
This is the most important score card measurement for current developers.
If players are spending their time in current content, it “could” show that the content they developed was worth the money spent.
However, if players are spending their time in older content (Like New Dalaran), then it raises questions about whether the developers did a good job on the current content.
Good leaders would use time played in current content when making the decision on whether the current developers are the correct developers to have developing new content.
By removing the incentive for people to “hang out” in New Dalaran, the developers can attempt to increase time played in current content vs old content.

Posters were stating that they had their regular hearthstone set to LDAL, regardless of their dal heartstone.
Someone came along and said this didn’t happen.
All they need to do is read any of the portal threads, and they’ll see this DID happen.
