Rearranging and Removing Portals

A level 100 was looking and asking where the one Karazhan was,I really hate telling anyone their gone.I do hope they return them.

I’d have to take another look around, but I was thinking they could put an Alliance one down where the Blasted Lands one used to be (though maybe they should just put a Hellfire/Blasted Lands portal there). The hallways leading into/out from both rooms might also have a spot for a new portal or two. But I agree that it might not be a quick fix in any case.

I took an old character over to look at the Horde version and being just a basic round room it might have to have the art team carve out a spot, so ya. not sure why they went with that design for Horde. I am guessing it is the art style in general.

Makes me think about how they would expand it for possible later portal use given they said they were designed to add more later if needed.

Honestly the best place for the ones they removed Kara etc, would be the place they were originally placed, Legion Dal.

One thing is for sure blizzard does put mysteries in the game, which is fun trying to find out .

I think the hallway is supposed to be the grand entrance to the room, it’s going to look weirdly cluttered if they start lining it with portals too.

One thing that’d be kinda nice would be if the Portal Room had it’s own mini-map, with the little nooks labeled with the destination. I find myself continuously walking around and mousing over each portal til I find the one I want

Isn’t “we always do this” part of Blizzard’s reasoning for removing the portals? Even though that argument is factually untrue?

Yeah,it does need a map.

Blizzard: repeats a change people have complained about every time they’ve made it
Paying customers: complain about the change
Blizzard: “We always do this.”
Paying customers: “Yes, and we always complain about it.”

Next expansion it will happen all over again.

The funny thing is, they last did this in the Cataclysm. People complained, and then for three and a half expansions they stopped doing it. Almost like they realized irritating their paying customers is a bad idea.

It’s like BfA is the expansion where they forgot everything they’ve learned over the past decade.

Let this thread die please. Can a blizzard delete this thread?

While people are still cheesed off at having doors slammed in their faces for no comprehensible reason… no. They can delete this thread and it’ll just keep coming up over and over again anyway.

The Horde portal room has those odd cells with peons in them on either side of the entry; I suppose they could kick the peons out and put portals in there.

If the rooms are meant to be expandable, though, they did a terrible job on the Horde side.

A thread a million posts long isn’t going to do anything. Which is why this thread is pointless. It serves no purpose. Blizzard isn’t going to listen to us. A multibillion dollar gaming company does what it wants too. Even if they remove things we like.

If they’re not going to listen to us, why are you asking them to close this thread? They won’t hear you either.

My point exactly. Which is why they won’t. 10501 posts later and not a single new blue post. And why would they. Cause they don’t want too. And you know why cause they don’t care.

They could put portals like the ones in surmar in those rooms.

No, they do care.

They care enough that they ramrodded this portal clean-up mess through, AND BROKE OLD CONTENT to get it done, they cared so much about making it happen -immediately-.

Oh, you meant they don’t care about our feelings. Meh. They can not care all day long. I want them to make decisions that are GOOD FOR THE GAME, not necessarily me personally.

But how this massive portal ‘root canal’ operation benefits the game as a whole? Other than making levelling so heinously awful that more people buy boosts, I can’t for the life of me figure out what they were thinking.

It is going to be an issue the entire expansion. And for what? The short term gains do not outweigh the long term disappointment that players will have as this drags on for the entire expansion.

BFA already had a dark cloud over it waiting for patch 8.2 to clear some of it. Why make things worse with portalgate?

Blizzard…looking for problems to justify having solutions.

Sometimes, it does feel like they need to fix a certain number of problems, but the actual problems are hard, so instead they go looking for “problems” that can easily be “fixed” in order to save their performance reviews.
