No. In this scenario, he is the one signing off on the shoddy work being done in the shop, allowing the poor work ethic of his team to continue, and the general overall contempt for the customers to be shown in almost every single major decision being made in the game right now. Comparing him to the mechanic when he’s the guy in charge of all the mechanics, and the people in charge of the various mechanic teams is laughable. He answers to very few people, so pretending he’s some helpless guy who has no power is the real joke. The absolute contempt he has shown for the playerbase since wod shows how much power and autonomy he has, and how little he has to fear from almost everyone at the company, except for the people above him…and how little accountability there is at actiblizz.
If they stepped in and sent a clear message: either removing him, OR telling the customers that they were going to rein in his kind of contemptuous behavior toward their customers (that have literally cost them millions of customers and even more money since wod), to would send a clear message to them that they would need to “shape up or ship out” and start treating their customers better.
Unfortunately, when leadership has engaged in such behavior as long as it has, the only way to create lasting change is to remove the current team and start over. After three releases of mediocrity and all manner of changes like portalgate, it’s clear that this is the direction that watcher and the leadership team want to keep taking wow.
Yes, and while the wife and kids sob story is tragic…they obviously didn’t care all that much about everyone they just showed the door. Clearly they can give him and anyone else on the team the same exit package they gave them.
It’s time for a fresh take, and a fresh team, while it’s still possible to make a turnaround.
you make a great point here. They are paid to create a game that their customers enjoy. That is what the focus should be on. If they get an overwhelming response from their customers that something like portal removal is causing their customers concern, they should quickly take care of it. It isn’t rocket science.
And I have had to set my hearths to the Shrine, and boy is it a pain, especially when I forgot while doing BFA WQs and hearthed out of the cave I was in. Ended up at the Shrine, had to go take a portal back to SW, then a portal back to the base. -_-
The real insanity is the level the devs will go to keep gimping the game for players, and the amount of time they spend finding NEW ways to do this…rather than actually developing new and compelling content…or actually, you know…improving quality of life features.
The last three releases strongly disagree with that. Clearly the focus is on gimping the game for players, not developing new and compelling content. Which is why their metrics and stick prices continue to fall.
For example, as of 2 days back, you can no longer get anything at all from Salvage Yard crates other than garrison resources.
They’ve been nerfed about a dozen times now, and were only of use to players starting garrisons up. You’d think some dev was having to pay for the pitiful amount of mats dropping from them from his own pocket.
So not only do new players have to spend time in Draenor to get Pathfinder if they want to fly, and get a level 3 garrison with a level 3 Trading Post which no longer has gold missions if they want the rep gain increase to speed things up, but everything making that region fun is diluted or withdrawn to prevent them having any fun there.
It doesn’t affect me, so I guess I should follow the example of current trolls and look for someone to ridicule over it, but in a way it affects everyone when this game is made less and less inviting for new players.
Warcraft was made by great devs who were enthusiastic about the game and loved sharing their work with the players. Now it’s mutilated by a gang of vandals intent on showing disdain, getting by on as little effort as possible and removing anything people might enjoy for fear of it rivaling their trash.
I just happen to notice this not too long ago as I am just leveling the garrison with this character to just do it. I was hoping to pick up some gear for my followers by having the salvage yard and get the tokens, but nothing but resources and herbs.
What a let down for people that are actively doing this to play the game. For me it is just something I wanted to do on this character because I never did it.
I might just tear it down and add something else to level for achievements. What a way to make the world feel bigger huh. Nerf all of the world content except current to the ground.

If I had seen this coming I would NEVER have paid for boosts. That was EXACTLY what they were hoping to cause. I just did it because I thought BFA was going to actually be at least as good as Legion was and it was my first expansion where I was playing from day one.
They keep limiting my ability play old content, thats fine.
I just wont play their game at all.
I think they KNOW by now that the mask is off. We know the who and the why now. The only question left is are we going to stick around and keep paying to stay in this abusive relationship.
