How does me losing interest in going places because of inconvenient travel feel immersive? Wouldn’t it be MORE immersive to send me to those zones instead of discouraging me from going there?
You’re a few months too late for that line. But yeah, one could hope. But sadly, this isnt the Blizzard many of us grew up on. That Blizzard has been gutted and all thats left is a hollow shell.
They yoinked the Shrine portals and replaced them with portals to the Horde/Alliance starting areas in the Jade Forest.
The portals underneath Legion-Dalaran are being made invisible unless you’re on a quest that requires one of those portals.
And the only CoT portal remaining requires Revered with Keepers of Time. The one in Northrend Dalaran is also being removed after nearly a decade.
I shouldn’t have to grind all that stuff on all of my characters just to retain some of the functionality that is currently available.
You can only use those portals when your faction controls those zones. Otherwise they’re simply not there.
I know right? Blizzard is not Blizzard anymore. And this makes too much sense.
Whelp you guys really dont get it or listen even if you claim to, unless you move the portals your taking out to the new rooms a lot of people are going to be done.
Right now im glad I am playing Elder Scrolls and and terribly sad to see how far you guys are out of touch with your players.
A sadistic hollow shell with absolutely no business sense.
Even the WoD people had enough sense to know when to just walk away from a stupid idea.
Not by many, Verdre. Sorry, but true.
I really don’t care about their reasoning but if they’re gonna do this, I can still get around. Most people don’t carry around 34609436 teleport items and toys but I’m always prepared.
The world of warcraft has always been big enough. People who think otherwise never had to run back and forth between zones and continents to turn in a quest chain. I get tired thinking of the old Barrens quests.
I have places to go, things to do, people to kill, you know how it goes.
Well, he did say in post #1;
With new expansions, we’ve made a tradition of removing some of the portals from the previous expansion’s cities. The goal with that is to encourage transportation flow through newer places where players are more likely to interact with other players. We neglected to do that initially following Legion (and we never did that following Mists of Pandaria for various reasons), but we feel that we should have. We’re correcting that now.
So from their p.o.v., they are going back and doing something that was intended, but never implemented.
They are removing some of the portals. If the majority was supportive of this change, they would remove all of the portals.
Yeah, same with ESO. You see players out everywhere, I love that. It’s not detrimental to the game at all. I’ve never once seen someone say, “why does this game have so many easy teleports? this sucks. it’s too easy to get around.”
All it does is encourage me to go do things, including older content. I WANT to go out into other cities and zones, funneling everyone into one central location is not a good thing.
This is actually what people claimed they wanted but I can see no value in having it because their reasoning isn’t all that great a lot of the times so it adds to the feeling they don’t even play their own game.
you can talk around it or try to justify it all you want, but we see right through your bs.
this whole expansion has been blizzard removing things from the game and making it slower overall. no one’s buying your crap anymore.
We’ve processed a lot of feedback on this
Apparently not the 5000 post thread where everybody breaks apart your “rationale.”
This is a silly and unnecessary change, and I can’t believe any development resources are being devoted to this, especially with the state of content and BFA.
Let’s just napkin math it for now. ~5 minutes x 12 alts = ~60 minutes.
Now let’s say for a full CoT clear of just the two Raids requires you to hearth out once, so you gotta make the trip back, so ~60 minutes x 2 = ~120 minutes.
And that’s just for one segment of content.
Time is money friend.
funny that you mention blizzcon, I can’t never go because where I live but I’m sure people going to blizzcon never asked a dev about anything that’s hot topic for whatever reasons… but hey… it’s the same thing always the cringe scream “for the horde!” “alliance where are you at?”
even on the Q&A section they do on blizzcon they pick the questions like they do on their twitch Q&A’s
I feel like I’m watching a scene from from Office Space.
“We didn’t terminate off the portal-keepers, they were supposed to have been let go last expansion. We just fixed the glitch”
(I can’t give specific feedback at the moment because I’m still hung up on your core principal ; I simply don’t agree that portals are bad … “size” means something very different now than it did in the early years when one might slowly migrate from town to town while leveling with occassional long expeditions back to a capital for training. WoW is now played as a home-and-expedition game where one maintains a single logout location for most or all of an expansion and travel time to remote zones is simply dead time, rather than feeling like a migration from one base of operations to another)
Which hysterically is clear opposite the ToT raid that is farmed daily.
Instead of leaving the CENTRAL port in they make sure to make it so we have the maximum travel time possible.
Thankfully I have mages on all accounts.
well, that wont matter once may rolls around anyway and all three subs lapse.
I rarely come on these boards anymore but this has to be one of the dumbest Ideas I have seen since I started playing in original beta. Absolutely no one goes through old zones for the most part because by the end of a expac we have played them to death 10x over. Only reason any of us vist these old zones is because of random small items here and there and only then because of ease of use. Take away ease of use and these places will become even bigger graveyards then they are now. If you guys are of the mindset that you don’t want to cheapen the game for new players… no one new plays this game, only people who have been here last 15 years and seen every inch of the game 100 times
This just happens to be a coincidence of timing they choose to implement this?
