Realm Transfers and the AQ Event

No, we all decided together where we wanted to go.

And I mean, it doesn’t even sound like you would have a chance anyway. The people who will be receiving mounts were planned out before Classic even launched.

I’m also 99% this wasn’t just a classic thing, think they clamped down on server transfer gate opening (and eventual server firsts) way back in the day.

This isn’t a change and is in-fact an all ready existing policy that they’re just reminding us of. So yes. You would have to have transferred 90 days prior to hitting the gong.

Mad respect for you bro.

I’ve been Heartseeker day one.

Our gates will open, just not as fast.

That’s not remotely true. My guild runs multiple BWL raids and multiple raids will be done before gates open. One raid is spoken for but the other raid is not as many people aren’t willing to do the grind or spend the money. The kind of coordination you’re talking about is happening only on the most populated servers with the most coordinated of guilds. The exact kind of people who would transfer cheese.

The vast majority of people who were going to transfer cheese were waiting anyway, so there’s not really a reason not to make the rule apply only to those who transferred after the announcement. What this change has done is retroactively added a penalty for having transferred.

It wasn’t a change though, pretty sure this has been a thing for a long time, they were just clarifying it still exists.

You couldn’t transfer to open AQ gates on new realms back in late Vanilla/TBC/Wrath, just like you couldn’t transfer for realm first crap back in wrath-mop.

As I understand it, there was a six month delay on transfers for new Vanilla realms. It didn’t stop a transfer from opening the gates in Sept 06 on Steamwheedle Cartel server which was new in March 2006.

Someone with the scepter transferred to the server when transfers went live and opened the gates a few days later. They, and the guild they joined, did have the courtesy to give everyone on the server a few days heads up as to when they were opening the gates and did wait until a weekend afternoon so that as many as possible could participate.

It may have been the tail end of vanilla or TBC that they changed it but they def did have something in place.

You absolutely could do that during TBC and transferring restrictions aren’t the same as retroactively penalizing people who have transferred. If I had know this was going to be an issue, I never would have transferred, I would have leveled a new character. Now I have a lot of time invested into this character (not the one in the portrait obviously) and it’s not going to even have a chance at this.

This isn’t retroactively penalizing anyone. At some point they DID put this restriction in and they kept it here.

They are “clarifying” not adding it, it’s always been there.

Hell though, they’re giving enough time on this, if anyone really wants it they could just level a new character.

Can you show me where they announced this was going to be a thing besides the announcement 3 days ago? The “fix” they had in the past was restricting transfers to new realms for 6 months.

It was put into the game at some point, and kept, they don’t need to announce, they just needed to clarify.

But like I said, if someone really wants it, level a new character and get it, plenty of time.

There is not plenty of time to level a new character for those of us who have a job. You need to show where it was put into the game, and by that I mean where it was announced for classic wow specifically.

It doesn’t need to be announced for classic wow specifically.

And if you have a job, how you going to spend 7 straight days farming up 42000 shells?

Yes, it does need to be announced for classic wow specifically because the system they just announced did not exist and the AQ questline was removed in cataclysm.

I already have vacation scheduled for an unrelated reason (quarantining for 14 days so I can visit an at-risk individual) so it works out. You don’t need to farm for 7 days straight, you have people helping, it’s a server-wide effort and there are lots of people who are willing to help somebody else for a few days.

42000 at 1-4 a kill is 10500 kills minimum, it’s going to take you most of that seven days straight farming.

And that’s hoping you don’t get a bigger guild transferred over to do it and take all the spots.

Good, F the transfers messing with established people.

They’re still going to do it ya know, it’ll just change plans and the one getting it is going to have to level fresh.

Well for one, it’s not going to be open in 7 days on most servers. It will take at least 2-3 weeks if not longer.

Secondly, big guilds would not be able to do that if they only disallowed it for people who transferred after the announcement. The vast majority of people wanting to transfer cheese were waiting until closer to release so they can pick the perfect server instead of transferring somewhere and having it get flooded.

They still will, this doesn’t stop it, it just changes the game plan.

Pick a server, have your guy getting the scepter level to 60. Transfer over your guild with all the mats (on both sides), and boom, you have a mount in the guild. It’s a huge prestige piece, people will do anything to get it.

If that’s what you think, then why would you support this? Wouldn’t you rather have server transfers locked for the next 3 months?
