Realm Transfers and the AQ Event

Nah, I don’t think they should limit it at all. Classic is a joke anyway.

So you’re purely here to be a contrarian.

No, i’m purely here because it’s more fun to argue on the forums than play classic.

As long as you pay, blizz doesnt care why you keep your sub active.

I mean, who says I currently have a sub? I spent a year posting on these forums without one lol.

But I play retail mostly, more fun.

I enjoy reading this post lol.

Sooo, I like this change.

BUT, are you going to put restrictions in so dirtbag guilds can’t ring the gong after the second reset? Or are all of us who work hard on this, but have jobs are just SOL?

We really need a clarification on this, badly, especially with this change. There are a lot of us who will be working very hard on this and coordinating with our server just to have one jerk ruin it for everyone.

This goes both ways. Even without server transfers.

What if I complete the questline on my current realm, bang the gong, and get the mount. Then, a few days or weeks later, my guild and I transfer to a new realm. Will I lose the mount? What about the (future) title?

The same logic applies to the estate tax in the US. An absolutely tiny amount of people pay it, but everyone is all like “REMOVE IT BECAUSE THAT MIGHT BE ME SOMEDAY ZUG ZUG!”

I personally think that because people had no idea this was coming, that people who transferred BEFORE the date of the announcement shouldn’t be restricted to the 90 days. There are people who have transferred following all the rules and such, but now get a punishment.

Back in vanilla, people would complete the scepter quest on their server, but AQ gates were already open. So they would transfer to another server that still had the gates closed, hit that gong to get the rewards. There were many servers back in the day, due to the lower population on one faction or the other, AQ gates were still closed when Naxx time was approaching, so Blizzard opened the gates on all servers, and all future new servers would start with the gates open.

If this is the reason why Blizzard is putting this restriction in place, it should only affect people if they transfer AND either on a quest or have completed any of the quests for the scepter chain (which would be impossible at this current time).

As I stated above, people have been transferring for reasons that have NOTHING to do with AQ. Whether it is because they had a falling out with their guild, they believe their server is dead and want to go to a more lively server, go to play with friends, etc. Sometimes, it is a whole guild (or part of a guild) that transfers off a server (maybe server is kind of stagnant and hard to recruit players, but due to reasons out of your control people leave from time to time… can’t refill the roster… maybe?).

This wouldn’t be a problem if Blizzard did proper communication and inform players of this earlier. Had players known in March or even April, this wouldn’t be an issue. But no, people get informed about it in July.

Soooooo just like Vanilla then? In Vanilla there was 1, 2 max per server. People rant the gong when they rang the gong. They didn’t wait for hopes and dreams haha.

You are gonna get 5+ scarab lords per server now. No one waited back then and they won’t now.

You don’t get it. The raids aren’t the hang up. It’s the carapace farming. You need to farm an average of 3k mobs a day / 16 hours a day for 7 days, averaging 8 kills a minute. It takes 20+ people. You not 99.99999% of people here complaining never had a shot, regardless of transfers.

Why exactly would they have told people sooner? Also if they did, wouldn’t that defeat the purpose of why they are doing this? People would exploit this by going to lower pop realms and doing the whole quest chain to get the mount and then move back to their original realm while keeping the mount. It’s been a thing for a long time even back in Vanilla. People that don’t know about it either never played back then or completely forgot about this. People who are complaining are most likely guilty of considering trying it till they found out about this.

That’s assuming even on that lower pop realm there’s not a guild there that’s gonna blow it out of the water. How is someone going to get Broodlord’s head from a guild that allows them to then leave for 3 months? They absolutely could have told us ahead of time. I am complaining and I legit only transferred to play with friends. I did very much want to compete for scarab lord but it wasn’t why I transferred. I really don’t see how anyone is going to do that. Even the RP server I transferred to there is a guild that is going to try to open it as soon as they can. I knew those guys existed when I moved to BB as I’ve had alts on BB since classic started because as stated before… I have friends from vanilla wow here and wanted to play with them again. I was the GM of a hardcore raiding guild on Benediction and could 100% have done it on Benediction if I hadn’t transferred to BB. The only problem I have no is that its pushing me back a few weeks and since I have a min/max mentality I don’t like having to push back anything.

You can still help one of your friends get it. Realistically a lot of people complaining about this had no chance of getting it anyway. Entire guilds that transferred for a reason other than scarab lord are the only people I would feel bad about but that is probably an extreme minority if there even is such a guild.

  1. So there was no release date for AQ when a good chunk of players transferred so they didn’t know this was going to happen.
  2. Why not post a “safe” date so that people can actually know if they are safe or not. Anything before this date (safe), anything after this date (your screwed).
  3. I mean damn…it’s my fault I transferred to another realm before this info was published? Totally different story if there had been a release date for AQ 90days before, but we got 30 days notice with a retroactive penalty.

They technically are retroactively penalizing because they release date for AQ was not posted before the start of the 90 day period. So those that transferred in the window are not able to complete for rewards. Completely different story if the info was known ahead of time.

They arent retroactively anything. They are giving you an FYI to something that is and has already been in place. It is a reminder so more people who act without knowledge dont flame them later on after they wasted their time/materials.

While we’re discussing transfers, does Blizz have any updates on when they’ll be opening paid character transfers for locked servers? It’s been over a month since the last update and queue times have gone down significantly at least on Pagle.
