I’m really trying to stay positive and give them the benefit of the doubt, hoping that they’ll eventually unlock us. However, I have to admit, the longer this goes on, the more I suspect there may be some malicious intent behind it. It feels like they’re offering us what we want just to silence us, only to lock the server anyway. The more I think this way, the harder it becomes to justify giving them my money.

The irony of allowing players to purchase transfers but not actually escape Grobbulus is extreme player-hating behavior for a “reformed” Blizzard.
Open FCM off Grobbulus already, you goblins.
We are approaching the point that actual advice to anyone with Horde Characters on Grobbulus is to (1) transfer an old alliance toon there, and (2) delete your Horde characters to ruin the existing faction locks, effectively destroying Blizzard’s hope for a balanced future. I hate that forcing action is the only remedy in the system they constructed but they are ignoring the escape room simulator they’ve built and reinforced.

Just went to do a transfer of my main who’s a guild leader. Said it won’t allow me to transfer until I transfer control of the guild to someone else. Will the guilds be automatically transferred, or do we have to disband and remake?

Guilds do not transfer in anyway. Nothing will be persevered. Its everyone transfers as an individual and then reforms. You might get lucky and the guild name is there or not. So that can even be different. Player names might be different too. Over all its a complete clean slate.
Is this option still available?
I’m a recently returned player, who’s been away for some time and I would like to take advantage of this option to transfer characters from Ashkandi to Pagle I guess it would be? But I do not see any way to do so. Having checked the shop, I do not see any Free method to transfer a character.
If this is still an option, can you let me know how I would go about transferring my characters?

It should still work as it didn’t have a specific time table tied to it… but… lets just say this whole situation has been flakey af… so all you can do is try at this point and hope.

which shop did you check? it´s available in the shop in the char selection screen NOT the webside or something like that.

- Launch game
- Click “Shop” on the bottom left of the character select screen.
- Click Services.
- Select Free Character Transfer. It’s the first option, top left of the list of services.
- Select your character on the drop-down menu.
- Check “Transfer realm” and choose the destination realm. Most realms will only have one option. Ashkandi, for example, will only have Pagle (PvE) as an option to transfer to. All destination realms other than Grobbulus are connected to Pagle, so it’s all the same.
- Click Continue.
- Wait for the transfer to complete. Doesn’t usually take long.

Personally, I don’t RP or dress up as a cat, but I wonder how all the RPers on Grob feel about this LOL.
I still can’t find an answer regarding what will happen to these servers long term down the road AFTER the free migration: Faerlina, Mandrik, Benediction, Atiesh, Whitemane, BB, Sulfurus, Windseeker, Azuresong, Westfall, Old Blancy, Ashkandi.
Those servers will have the same problem that this other low to medium pops were facing before!! AH is a ghost town now already on mine which was once a Full server with 95% horde.
Are they being decommissioned?
So, with that, what happens end game to the people who are NOT opting to take the free move? Will they eventually going to be force moved and those servers are being decom? It is not clear, then again, I haven’t read every post
might as well get rid of faction altogether and let people pvp in pvp zones without faction regardless of races. Orc vs Orc, why not? it would solve your balance issues AND reduce your tech debt which seems to be the hidden goal so Tom can get promoted saying they saved XXX per year on compute costs

Ok, I found finally how this works. I was coming from Windrunner and IN GAME - the shop did not have this function. I had to logout and go to character screen and THEN click SHOP… and the free transfer was listed and worked great. Maybe an admin could flag this to the dev team and have them add it in-game as well. Seems like that is where everyone is looking and seeing that there is a charge for it.

Just using history as a lesson… odds are they just sit there forever like the servers they left to rot from the pervious migration round in what was it… tbc/wotlk time line. They just sit there locked. Eventually people migrate off or just wonder how their old mega server died when they come back since I imagine a lot of people that disappear for a while don’t keep up with all the latest news. It makes a little more sense on something like Fera/Bene because it had such a high volume of players you probably do have a lot of just inactive players that COULD come back, but most the others… yeah… probably not a ton.

So Grobbulous is 1/7th the size of my old server in which you said was going to be a “Mega Server” and now you want me to pay to transfer after your deception of what the realm truly is not!! No one that transfered here is happy with you i can say that!! Neither are those that weren’t offered transfers off!!

A lot of us tried to tell everyone this was going to happen. I know the grob propaganda arm was out heavy for the merger trying to spice up that it was some sort of pvp paradise but the real ones knew… it was toast from the start… we just didn’t have the twitter presence for the devs to bother listening too.

Our heroic prog guild has officially stopped because it’s become too much of a hassle to find the 5-6 pugs to fill our roster (combination of factors, MoP “bring the class not the player” design means we needed specific roles to fill which were in even lower supply–bringing pugs 470 alts each week and “restarting” every boss is not sustainable for progression). Raid drain was already starting before the merge and Blizzard, unaware of their own ignorance, accelerated the decay by offering EVERY OTHER WoW MoP PLAYER free character moves to a merged shard where these issues would be solved, guaranteed.
Are Free Character Moves open off Grobbulus yet?

Feels like not doing the right thing is more important then getting rid of a bunch of players for next to no reason. Its a pretty simple thing to roll up and push out. Pride is such a silly thing for a company to toss money out the window over.
I mean at least if you’re going to kill Oceanic off by 1000 cuts, give us the free transfers or faction change so we can go to a big PVE realm. Since you forced us from pvp to pve ping is not the biggest issue.
