Really bad ST raid loot leaves me nothing to look forward to, kills my vibe to play I've played SoD since day 1

I’ve played every day of SoD practically, never quit, never threatened to quit based off their systems or changes.

ST raid loot is so bad, especially for casters. They were not generous with the amount of non-tier loot drops.

I’m sweaty in raid somewhat, and normally I don’t care about loot especially in retail, its more a “means to an end” over there.

But in Classic, raid loot is something to look forward to, raid upgrades are usually big, hard to get due to RNG dropping and winning the roll.

Feel like that was kinda taken away with ST. I am happy they added some other gear alternative routes but idk, just have a big association with rewarding raid loot with your large raid and all the organization and planning tied to that.

ST loot too bloated

And just bad - hardly side grades, and nothing but stat sticks.

Play the game because the game is fun, not because purple pixels make dopamine.

While I agree the loot is not the most fun, they clearly made a mistake on how much power they were giving us in phase 1 and 2, and hopefully this kinda normalizes it. It is what it is. Have your fun improving parses and personal bests

You only feel that way because its on a weekly lockout now. If it was on a 3 day lockout, most people would be bis’d out depending on the chances. Not sure as to why they would make ST a weekly lockout considering itll be a “catchup” raid. Youll for sure have your 3 piece and ring but probably not your weapon/other pieces.

The roughest part is that because there’s so little good loot to get besides tier, there’s too much competition for the pieces you want. Our guild does a soft reserve system (can SR one item per raid and if it drops it’s yours unless other people also reserved it, in which case you roll against them for it) and we’ve been trying to SR different things but now that we’re basically all 3/3 tier there’s just not much left to SR. So there’s like a 25-33% chance the two items I need will drop and if they do I’m prob competing with 4-5 other people for them.

Doesn’t dopamine = fun?

Which means playing for dopamine is playing for fun?

agree, the loot in st is criminally bad as a paladin I think the only upgrade I have is a cloak that will give me 1 more agi. This phase is basically a gold farming simulator.

My point is that gear runs out eventually. When you run out of gear upgrades, do you stop playing? Are your toons not played anymore once you achieve full bis?

There has to be other reasons to play.

this. you’re not a wowfiend.

Unfortunately the classic version of the game offers little besides pvp for this. Retail, for all its flaws, at least gets it right from time to time with mage tower, withered army training, delves look promising. Etc.

This is what is kind of funny to me. After the first two lockouts I saw a few people on Lava Lash and one I remember specific was a Hunter. They had every bit of BiS they could get from ST after two lockouts… were in a guild I’d never heard of that also doesn’t raid. So I was pondering how with no GDKP and especially after the first two lockouts they had that many slots filled. Especially since the standard on LL is MS>OS +1.

Meanwhile in my reality we are having to pug 8 to 10 people a week. So there isn’t any consistent group where eventually people stop rolling on certain things because they have them. edit Although there are some things I’m not rolling on. We are super melee heavy and only had 5 casters last week. So many caster things were dropping we had multiple cycles of +1 due to everyone having won something. Which didn’t help the melee out much.

Along with the fact just like the other raids there is a bunch of stuff that drops and no one rolls on it. Cool I mean it gets disenchanted so I guess that is a plus but from gearing perspective it’s just a waste.

Unless this phase is super long I don’t think most of our “guild” raid team will be very ST geared when Phase 4 starts.

In comparison on Phase 2 with Gnomer there was only two things I didn’t get for my Boomie. One we never saw drop at all (until we did Alt Gnomer randomly this week) and the other item dropped once but lost the roll.

It’s not very good… But the sets are nice? Just collect the 3 and then cash you a epic weapon then fade into the sunset. :sunglasses:

They had to slow down the loot quality for scaling purposes. Know it has its downsides now but was certainly the right thing to do for level 60 purposes

The amount of BiS loot out of the raid is noticeably low compared to other phases.

Game is fun when player progression is fun and noticeable. Getting a 1sp weapon upgrade is a negligible change and hence isn’t fun.

Thats an issue with gnomer gear. Bfd gear to gnomer gear was a gigantic change, but ST gear is essentially a side grade to gnomer gear.

When you all say BiS are you meaning “best item each slot” or just something in the top 5 or 6 in the slot?

I’ve seen two people recently in game claim to be “BiS” and they definitely aren’t “best in every slot”.

Has the definition changed?

For some stuff maybe, but for my claws they are significantly better.
