Real WoW heirlooms

Some items in WoW have sentimental value, and in example if you have someone in the family who doesn’t play anymore, they could pass down some of their items to you. Imagine, the same Invincible that your father/brother got during WotLK can be yours. It could be a way of saying “This mattered to me - now it’s part of your story too”

This functionality could also be a way to gift BoP items to your friends or your partner. Some restrictions should be applied I guess, for if (or when?) someone finds a way to exploit it. But the idea is that some, potentially rare, possessions could mean something more than just pixels on the screen. The game existed for a while, got some people through many stages of life, and I believe there isn’t a small amount of people who might have an item/pet/mount that means something to them and they might like to have its story continue.

Obviously not a realistic idea, I wouldn’t think it’ll have much use. Just started thinking about this because my dad used to play and if I could acquire an item he used to own - that would mean a lot.

Would it be the “same” item tho or just a copy? Idk if its possible to transfer specific items that’s why im asking.

I like your idea tho!

There would have to be some crazy restrictions that I am not even sure how to apply.

Because otherwise we are just going to create a new RMT market

It would be the same item, like existing trade functionality works now, but with soulbound items. It’s not possible to trade any soulbound items or equipped mounts at the moment, so it would have to be something entirely new. As a concept it sounds nice but would likely mess with a lot of existing systems

Just delete soulbinding. I never got its point any way.

I like the idea. It would be cool to be able to pass along rare soulbound items as a one-time transfer, no takesies-backesies kind of deal, like if you knew for a fact you wouldn’t be playing the game in the future.

Some things like old collector’s edition pets would be really nice to be able to pass along for kids who never would have had the opportunity to get themselves.

I love this idea. I plan to pass my account on to my son. assuming wow still exist by that point. but hopefully it will be a long time off before i kick the bucket.
