Re: the ignore function in 9.1.5

okay good, people don’t need to speak to you or listen to what you have to say.

And others have the right to not want to deal with how you “conduct” yourself.

If you are intent on continuing to be a nuisance, you really should get over people ignoring you.

I’m seeing one toxic jerk who is upset he won’t be able to trash other players on untraceable alts anymore, and one untraceable classic toon that agrees with him.

You know what I’m thinking?

I can tell you that Classic toon isn’t mine. But it sounds like you entertain hostility against those who agree with my position, which just reproves my argument that no one is truly innocent.

You speak as if we haven’t had an ignore function in the game since Vanilla. All that is happening is that function is becoming expanded and fleshed out more.

The only people who should be having a problem with this are those who want to be particularly insistent in their harassment (stalkers). Who else would want a way to circumvent alt ignoring?

Stalking is different for each person though.

No, Stalking has a pretty clear definition.

A pretty clear definition for each person. I get it. Stalking to me is when it’s something longer-term and I have no escape from it. But again, I never had someone hate me that much to actually experience it.

Not exactly what i was thinking, but close enough. :+1:

I can’t believe you’ve actually convinced yourself that a negative trait is actually a positive trait that makes you stronger.

And that people should let you go off to toughen up.

You have issues, mate.

And this is coming from an Australian who enjoys calling my work friends the C word while bantering.

If they’re not in the mood, or I don’t know them well enough, or I can tell it’s not their speed I don’t still call them a C.

There’s a difference between banter/trash talk and just being a prick.

Well, I come from the days before those games, and trash talking was a good way to get kicked from your gaming group.

Some of the worst pricks I know are Aussies. No offense.

Depends on who the trash talking is directed to.

Basically boils down to this…

You want to trash talk.
I don’t want to deal with trash talk.
Present your argument as to why I should be forced to deal with your trash talk.

If you’re going to enable and consent with toxic ignorers, I’d rather not share in such an association. I’d gladly clean my hands off of that. You’ve yet to have any idea what this is going to really do. You’ll have to start getting more private about your own gameplay, if you’re not there already.

Ignoring someone isn’t inherently toxic.

Again, why should I be forced to deal with trash talk?

You’re new to the discussion, and it’s gone on for a few days. Some of us have already stated that it can be toxic to ignore people, and it happens a lot.

Because it could be the case that you could incite trash talk via toxic behavior coming from your end and that there ought to be a sense of retribution. That’s why you should deal with it, or at least understand what you did that has caused it on your own.

A good way not to get trash talk is not do the things that bring on trash talk in the first place. Let’s start being more responsible about that so nobody would have to ignore and be ignored.

I don’t think blocking people is considered toxic. It is not an aggressive or insulting action toward anyone else unless they perceive it that way. I’m not harming someone by ignoring them.

Can you elaborate there? Besides starting my own trash talk (which I don’t do) what actions could I take that could possibly justify being talked down to and abused? I’m of the opinion that no one deserves to be attacked like that.

Things like tbagging, using toys on corpse, and certain emotes in PvP. Anything attitudinal that’s perceived to be toxic. Nobody deserves that treatment if nobody deserves trashtalk.

Oh okay, I don’t do any of that.

Closest I’ve used to a toy in PvP are those toys that make you flagged to all, that allow you to collect the various tokens/let you try for the Servant of N’Zoth title/etc.

Me neither. It just so happens that people think it’s so much a big deal to get one frag.
