My philosophy is that if I’m utilizing either my mats or having to go to the AH to get them you better be prepared to pay a premium; something like cost of mats +30%.
We’re actually going to have a system like that; theres going to be NPC work orders available for us to fininsh and those will act as a “catch up” system. Which is incredibly gratifying to me since while I do like having a pile of crafters, having them all kept up to date is… rather frustrating to say nothing of new characters coming in several months down the road.
This is my philosophy as well; I’d rather have my fellow guildies kitted out then try and make a profit off of them.
It would be helpful to integrate it with the AH though. Buying all the mats is a needless PITA for both buyers and crafters. If they aren’t supplied, auto-buy them on the AH. No more calculating and guessing if it’s profitable to do an order missing mats, because that shouldn’t even be allowed to happen.
Looks like all they did was tweak the DF system a bit but it’s pretty much the same. Still going to have to wait for crafters to farm enough points to even make the good stuff and you will have to farm up the BoP stuff like sparks or whatever this expansions equivalent will be.
Most guilds with a half decent roster with at least 2-3 active crafters for each profession. A lot of guilds communicate in the first month and figures out what the raid needs and specializes that way so points aren’t overlapped. If it’s good for the guild, it will typically be good items for the general populace.
Multiply that by a few guilds and servers should have plenty of crafter options in the first 3 weeks.
It’s unfortunate that recrafts are such a giant PITA for guildless players (because the crafter has to be online, watching chat, and be in a city or near a special crafting station to even do the recraft).
Really though, a rank 2-3 item is worth just getting the embellishment effect at first. You always have the option of upgrading later when you start to min/max your char for a bit of extra gold in base materials.
I actually really really really like the idea of taking end game materials from the strongest monsters & bringing them to some experienced crafts person who can now make a really nice weapon with that material.
I just wish the material was also available for purchase on the AH (and sale by the slayers) for the less dragon-slaying more market savvy folk.
not yet at least. We’re like 15 years away from games playing themselves for us. this WASD keyboard Mouse crap has been the same since the 90’s… time to evolve.
Unfortunately, Aeryas, the crafting system is even worse in TWW. I, like you, would prefer that the crap order system went away and we could return to making and posting top-level gear on auction. I’d also like to see the level of mats gathered just be one level, not the 3 that take up so much storage room
i don’t want the game to play itself…
that’s exaggeration to make a point.
i want to by max level gear so the game
will be more fun for me to play.
i hate struggling.
I’ve maxed all professions through SL. DF is the first time I chose not to bother with it and in TWW I don’t plan on maxing anything but the gather professions, cooking, and fishing.
I’ve played for 16 years and have maxed all professions in every Xpac except DF. If I can’t post my items on auction then why bother? I also always like to post things for mogs. Way too much trouble now to do any legacy DF mogs.
