So what they should do is make some server only servers and see how popular the concept is when people can make the choice.
I mean we already know people vastly prefer LFD over chat pugging so that’s a pretty good indication of how that would go.

You are literally what is wrong with WoW… how can these even be an opinion… I don’t even… like… This ladies and gentleman is the anti-RDF crowd… right here… like you guys are the FAR-RIGHT of the wow community… just so … I can’t even say the word on here.
100% this.
You are too smart to be a blood elf.
You belong in the alliance.
Some communication from blizz would be appreciated.
Im not sure about 15 mins but Im pretty sure thats the way it originally worked. It would try and search your server first then branch out. Actually IIRC it wasnt cross server when it released, it got added later due to queue times.
No, it was always cross-realm. That’s part of why the Teleport was required from the start, because it was transferring your account to cross-realm instance server instead of making a group across the server boundaries and letting everyone run there (which wasn’t technically possible at the time). It’s the same reason why when they introduced Battleground Queues instead of running in the AV entrance, it included a teleport.
Proof:
This video from 8th December 2009 when it released it showed cross-realm participants (look for the [*]) and it specifically mentions it when talking about the raid browser.
Specific mention timecode: https://youtu.be/cIUWlMAp-ck?t=350
I stand corrected, I must be remembering wrong then, thanks for the informative clarification.
I mean frozen orbs are in phase one but yeah you’re completely right if you’re buying hundreds of thousands of gold it of gold it doesn’t actually matter if they are or aren’t it’s still going to be extremely casual player Unfriendly.
15 minutes till turned over to free for all?
Signed.
give it a pop up even. We cannot find a match right now. Do you want cross realm? yes or no.
even retailers will take this in leveling. its what they ahve now in chromie time. if you can’t get a dungeon in your chromie time zone…then it switches you over to all zones after a pop up asking if you’d like to switch over.
for those who don’t care about not a proper zone dungeon you click yes. You want A dungeon. Not picky about it, its all good
Really want zone only? then click no. then you wait longer to see if more say legion players sign up.
It’s the logical system, unsure why classic devs didn’t use what’s right there staring them right in the face.
Inb4 Blizz makes a post saying they couldn’t get the tool to work in time for wrath so they’re going to put in RDF.
Because none of the reasons they gave for not including RDF, were the reasons they chose to not include RDF. It’s all about the Paid Boosts.
Server identity became non-existent the moment Blizz created megaservers and failed to properly manage server migrations.
Every single “problem” listed with RDF already happens without it.
Even the teleporting to instance argument is contradicted by PvP ques for both arena and BGs teleporting people to and from instances, allowing people to just sit in cities and spam PvP ques…
“They got it wrong so let’s make it worse”
Why not try and make it better?
It’s a nice thought, but I’ll be absolutely shocked if we get the RDF in any form before phase 3 and even if we do get it they’ll probably implement some absurd limitation to make us hate it.
WoW is not an open world survival PVP game… lol… literally all of its end-game since 2005 has been INSTANCED… there was a vary short time, when most of you were probably not even born yet… that WoW had no BG’s and you would fight all day at Tauren Mill… we were gearing based on how gear looked back then… wearing gray items at higher levels… thats not what wow turned into or what it is in 2022.
So please for the love of god, learn that Dungeons DO NOT MATTER. RDF is a time saver that we desperately need when it comes to forming groups… because the alternative is just not forming dungeons and doing nothing…
There is no middle ground to the rdf “issue” you’re literally describing the retail features.
Instead of asking for band aids that only benefit those who didnt experience rdf as it was released theres better questions and additions to ask for, I was there originally and guess what tank shortage was a recurring problem so bad they introduced the role bonuses. Didnt work as people burned themselves out as doing stuff alone in an mmorpg is not fun. Not intended to be a solo game.
History is gonna repeat itself if you dont learn from your mistakes. We should be focusing on developing content that was lackluster like the argent tournament phase and actually giving us the nerubian city that was about 60% complete.
Or how about the gundrak raid that was promised but forgotten about? The long as hell snake that never ends up in the game being a thing again?
I dont want blizzard to spend time on features that they know hurt the game while there is other content on the floor forgotten about.
This.
A wait time for going to cross realm will fail to find a tank 99.9% of the time only rarely finding a tank who queued from a completely dead realm. Can people please stop suggesting this “compromise”? It fails to stand up to any critical thought.
A cross-realm toggle/opt-in might be workable, and if that’s the compromise that would let me have rdf, I’ll take it.
All my tanks would be opted in, of course. People need to stop being so damned afraid of those other people on that other realm.
I fail to see any legitimate critical thought that proves a server prio system would not work. Actually I see many examples of similar systems that do work.
This is in no way the issue with cross realm and you and I and everyone else reading know it.
Without compromise the best results for the majority will never be achieved.
There is no compromise, they said no.
A compromise requires both parties to give something and you give nothing, a measely 15$ isn’t something you can stand on.
