Rated Solo Shuffle

This is rough. I want to say that anyone who did not leave the game should not lose more than zero; however, I can also see that being abused if you try to queue at the same time as your friends. Regarding whether it’s fair that the Healer lost points for a hunter that did not turtle; I am curious though if the Healer would have lost those 90 points regardless if the six matches played out. If the answer to that is yes then I think the system would be fine the way it is, but if the answer is no and the Healer had the opportunity to count the rest of the four matches as wins and come out in the positive then there’s definitely a problem with the system. Hopefully we can get a blue post on the calculations behind the leaver system now to provide some clarification. I agree with World PVP that if the Healer lost those 90 points and was stripped the opportunity to win points due to a leaver then there is definitely a problem with the way the calculations are being handed out right now.

It is kind of insane watching the game choose if you would win or lose and deciding that if you lost the last round means you are going to lose or win every round.

They RNG’D my PvP

Yeah I definitely have concerns about that. Especially considering the Healer shortage I know one of the common complaints we have all had is that one Healer is severely underrated compared to the other so sometimes there is a vast discrepancy of healer competition when we’re in queue for over an hour and the system is just trying to give us a game. I really do hope that blizzard will chime in on this post.

I always find it hilarious supporting a good healer against bad DPS. DPS complained about getting no heals after losing last match. DH never used blur, darkness or banish to save themselves. Point it out and they get angry. I think it really should show which defensives WERE available during the recap after they die so they can improve instead of blaming other people.

I think alot of what makes Solo Shuffle good for people is because they are playing the meta classes/specs. I think it is 100% on Blizzard and its developers to make EVERY class/spec bring something to the table and that would improve solo shuffle beyond what everyone wants it to be.

Definitely. I mean I climbed to about 2.3k as Destruction (no where near close to meta) prior to the buff on Tuesday and it’s a struggle bus. I am a firm believer you can master any spec and still push. Looking at the statistical data as of today, there is every class/spec above 2.4k. Of course there are some outliers (with there only being 8 Outlaw rogues, 9 Boomkins, and 10 Fire Mages compared to the 334 Demon Hunters), with the only specializations missing being the tanks (except for one Protection Paladin who achieved it). One of the things I’m noticing about Solo Shuffle is some classes/players are unsure how to play with another class/spec. For example, as a Destruction Warlock, I typically never really played with a Feral Druid in prior Arena Seasons…but in Solo Shuffle I’d match with them so I had to adjust my playstyle. It definitely has been an interesting new experience.

Aside from that commentary, I noticed my queue times have been a lot better this week. I’m not sure if Blizzard did something on the back-end which changed it or if it’s just the 2.4k mmr that has more people queueing, but I haven’t had to wait 30min-1 hour+ this week for games. Have you had the same experience?

My games have been pretty quick after I figured that if it goes over the average I have to drop it or get a healer that is around 1k rating and gets absolutely destroyed. Only seen 2 leavers so far but people saying they are throwing because they are not giving you 6 wins has increased by ALOT. Big problems with certain healers like Hpally and Ret basically means you are half defensived the entire time you are matched with them because of forbearance which is really lame.

So far I have been liking it. Just wish they gave Brewmaster more team oriented defensives like old school Guard.

Seems the newest thing to do is just AFK instead of leaving basically causing you to lose if you have the play with the AFK person. We currently have no way of reporting these people without making a ticket which really doesnt work.

Can I suggest AFKing be a bannble offense in RSS?

also getting hit for 918k among 3 targets (334k just for me) thru Dampen harm and Diffuse magic by a Ret Pally is not that fun or interactive!

I guess when two people die within 2 seconds of each other it causes a draw meaning everyone loses? Seems pretty busted. Especially since TOD takes about 3 seconds to activate and go off

I’ve been playing Affliction and sometimes we have simultaneous deaths. I think it’s a lot sooner than 2 seconds. I think it’s almost instantaneously. There have been times where someone on my team dies and then my dots immediately kill the next person before the finished announcement comes up and the other team still got the win. But there’s also been other times where someone rotted out as they got to kill and it caused a draw. I think it’s like a second maybe less for it to be a draw

The one that confuses me the most is when you kill a Holy Priest, they’re counted as alive during Spirit of Redemption. I’ve lost a few rounds even though we killed the Priest, because SoR gives them essentially infinite mana during that time period so they can just spam heal the other 2 with their strongest things without any negative.

Like, at the most, it should count as a draw, because you killed the priest. (I’m not referring to the SoR you manually activate, btw lol)

Current deathbolt bug is doing 2mil to people on average. If blizzard wants to fix it they will have to reset ALOT of people doing it in Solo Shuffle/Arena/RBGs.

I just made a post in the bug forum about this. But yes they definitely should be susceptible to account penalty violations and have their ratings reset. The Bug requires forethought and setup to execute and these players are intentionally exploiting a bug in the game to benefit their own personal games. So I hope Blizzard does take action against these exploiters.

Yeah im not touching rated anything until they fix it cause it seems like everyone is doing it.

If yall still doing rated dispelling the soul rot will make the deathbolt not hit for 1mil.

Would love better balance passes to address under performing non meta classes over reworking damage for the 23rd time for the over performing classes.

They need to reevaluate the entire structure of 3 wins and 3 losses being 0 points. And losing 70ish point after going 2-4. The “healer problem” is basically just bad design for rewarding points. I think they need to reevaluate the idea of how they reward points because why would anyone suffer going 3-3 for multiple rounds just to get nothing almost everygame and gaining 20 after winning 4-2 but get absolutely dumpstered andnlose 70 points going 2-4.

Playing with low MMR people just to fill games ruins the idea of gaining points when its imossible for them to win on your team or against you.

Its also equally difficult to not play the meta comps and get stomped because you enjoy an unloved class/spec blizzard devs have forgotten about and gives nothing in the means of utility or balance.

It’s not just the 3-3 people getting 0 points though. I’ve gone 3-3, 4-2, and 5-1 in different matches that have awarded me 0 points. Any even / winning record should award points IMO. It feels really bad to wait 20-30 mins (if you’re lucky, it seems) for a queue, play well, and get nothing to show for it.

I wonder if MMR should only be considered for matchmaking purposes, and not gain purposes. Would a system with static rating changes depending on your record be that bad? Yes, the healer problem exists, so I’m not sure what to do about that, but if as a baseline:

3-3 = 100
2-4 / 4-2 = +/- 150
1-5 / 5-1 = +/- 200
0-6 / 6/0 = +/- 300
And then you adjust these depending on the rating bracket you’re in.

(just random numbers, pick your poison on what they should be) I feel like being able to play a match and knowing “okay if I win X number of rounds I can hit this next bracket breakpoint.” sounds a lot better than “I went 5-1 and got 0 points… at 1200 rating”

It should honestly be winning with losing players gives a higher value too. If im helping a 0-5 healer/Dps get the only win they are obiviously making mistakes and overcoming a big set of adversities or placed well outside of the MMR they should be in. Riding the train of destroying the same player every round should hold less value over helping them win which is obviously harder and should be more rewarding.

Another point would be constantly playing. If I want a good set of games I have to drop every single Q that does hit a max time or it puts me with 800 cr people who cannot perform. Im not a ratings sitter and will Q anytime I have free time to get a few games. I have enjoyed having instant games but they will almost always end in a 3-3 and gain nothing while playing with under performing people usually results in them getting stomped and going 3-3 and gaining zero again. If a single mistake is made or someone gets lucky and scores an instant kill it usually ends up 2-4 and losing massive points.

If the PvP devs wish for the game mode to last they have to do something because it is extremely obvious that once everyone gets sick of losing tons of points and never gaining anything it will start hemorrhaging players like every season where fixes and balance are not addressed.

Nice to see we have moved from 0 points for winning 3 to losing points for winning 3. Not really the fix everyone wanted. The absolute insanity of being a healer and placed in LOW MMR games is seriously bad design also. If Blizzard cant find healers to fill games Blizzard needs to fix it themselves and not punish the players for not having good rewards and solutions not throw them into bad games to make them want to play even less

Also duelist enchant is still missing
Seems they swapped it out of the patch notes after its been scheduled for quite a while. Sneaky sneaky
