Rated Solo Arena Rating calculations are disrepectful!

BLIZZARD! Hear this plea as I have never felt the need to take time to forum post before but this season has changed something fundamental to my gaming experience and i need you to fix it ASAP or I will finally burn out with my relationship with Retail Wow.

First, I need you to understand the power behind the seasonal rewards you give to players…I participate (like MANY others) in rated arenas, for the rewards…and while I respect a natural reflection of skill in a rating structure…THIS SEASONS RATING WEIGHITNG SYSTEM IS OUT OF HAND and if its not addressed to allow these rewards to be obtained with a RESPECTABLE input of time , regardless of skill per game…then im going to need to take a real hard look at my life more then i already have with the time investment I spend with my relationship with this game, and im already telling you, the end result of that psychological rabbit hole, is going to end in a break UP…not just a break.

Now what am I talking about…well, your seasonal reward PVP mount for getting a number of wins with over a 1000 rating…has become very disheartening to participate in with the current weighted rating score system being used…for comparison… the last several season, skew the rating weights, so that you would SKYROCKET up the early rating numbers with even basic 3/6 win rates in the solo rated arenas, and get to a point you could participate in the over 1000 rating credit for not only the seasonal reward mount, but also the viscious sattle for previous years…this gives people like myself who have limited seasonal time, to have hope and a level of relationship with my gaming experiance, that no matter what kind of gaming night I have, I wont ever have “wasted” my time because I can always requeue and try again…but oh my GOD blizzard what have you done…because not only are 3/6 win rates not moving the rating AT ALL when im STUCK in the 800-900s…But even when i do get 4/6 OR 5/6 win rates the amount my rating increases is unbalenced compared to the way it PLUMMETS if i get a terrible run with a 1/6 or 2/6 win rate…THIS IS UNBEARABLE because even when i made it above 1000 for a bit, a few bad runs destroyed my rating and my entire time was wasted…WASTED not just…oh ill do better next time…NO I ALREADY REACHED THE BASELINE and not ope, im all of a sudden unworthy again…trash…im sorry. but TRASH! how you expect the majority of your retail players…YOUR CASUALS to remain with you…when you do this and play these games with their time…especially with Wow forever about to come out…queues for game modes are already down…and the time waiting for solo specifically is WILD at times…so I need you to seriously take this posts feedback heavily cause I will give it till the end of this months sub to take seriously the time i spend with my LIFE on a game that is ACTIVELY negatively impacting it with nothing I can psychologically point toward that makes it worth it…I play the game for escapism, serotonin, and yes, a challenge every once in a while , especially in PVP against my peers …but its like Big Brother Blizzard is coming in and adding ridiculous variables and effects if their game to actively antagonize when I just want an easy achievable reward that says, hey, I put some decent time into this this season and had some fun…IF I WANTED A MOUNT EVERY SEASON THAT SAYS IM AN ARENA BADA$$ ID GO FOR THE 1% MOUNT EVERY TIME SO DONT HIDE BEHIND THE SKILL EXCUSE LEVEL HERE PLEASE BLIZZ…please address the time respect concern im bringing up…because if its not…I will be finally breaking up with you.

Oh my god thats not the point! Thats the plan my guy…if you read my post, youd see my point is about how the rating system is weighted…when you start your pvp journey, if you didnt start at the very beginning of season 2, you end up going against the spectrum of players that are already geared way ahead of you…so you kinda rely on a game by game experience to get your rating up and if you start the season later, then that time commitment to get the rating to increase to the level you can start getting credit for the seasonal rewards, is all messed up and is currently, inflated to a point that even participating in season 2 at all any more is something im further questioning…thank you for your interaction with my post, but please refrain from further comments if they arent going to address my point

My last comment to address future trolls on this thread as I have a point Im bringing up that many people have the same feeling about…genuinely would like the observations and experience im receiving with the season 2 rating changes and their impact on seasonal rewards and achievements to be addressed with the new time commitment it is taking to reach the same standard of achievement and reward as seasons prior…sarcastic comments and advise (as funny as they are) do not address the change that has happened that im expressing feedback on…you are welcome to disagree with my experiance, but you dont play the game the same as I do, and Im telling you, the time commitment to reward ratio has been effected negatively and im giving my feedback on it as a human consumer who actually doesn’t want more reasons to leave the game.

you can play no talents full blues to 1800 while being literally unskilled so i’m very concerned for the rest of this post having read this far

i continued on
i do regret it

i swear there’s a correlation between being illiterate and being unsavable in arenas

Agree. I’m late to this thread and actually like reading long posts, but that slop took things too far lol.

Not even I could be bothered to read all that. I might have misunderstood it since I skimmed it but is someone crashing out over not being able to get the 1k seasonal mount reward?

Between a struggle to win games over 1k and the structure of the post, I will assume op has one or more disabilities, and also assuming they aren’t trolling.

Let me know if I can help op, no charge and we will knock out that 1k mount ez pz grinding 2s, chill games dps or healer.

if anyone would like stat examples btw of rating change examples of games I ran that show this experience, I can provide for context if needed (tho I heavily assume blizz can obtain appropriate logs internally and know exactly what I am talking about)

game 1: Game 2: Game 3:

Rounds won: 2 Rounds won: 3 Rounds won: 4

killing blows:2 Killing Blows: 0 Killing blows 1

Damage Done: 21M Damage Done: 30M Damage Done 32M

starting MMV: 1026 Starting MMV: 994 Starting MMV 1019

New Rating: 994 New Rating: 994 New Rating: 1026

Rating Change: -32 Rating Change: +0 Rating change: +7

For all the ppl trying to understand what im talking about…make this make sense, why would you DECREASE rating so much and then increase not at all or only the bare minimum in the early ratings…the rating weighting system is messed up and I dont care if illiterate trolls dont want to take time to understand something that might take an extra braincell to understand…apology for any run-on sentences…I try to not get too annoyed with all the trolls any their comments but I understand people got to entertain themselves somehow…anyways, this is my point and maybe not everyone sees this from whereever they are standing in the ranking system…but in my HEAVY opinion, you need to make it HARDER to drop below 1000 rating then it is to reach it! then everyone would be happy cause the seasonal mount is supposed to be a participation reward in modern day retail…not another reason to want to quit the game

if this is the case, I would also help if needed to get w/e rewards. if the guy can use 1 button rotation ill get them 1800 for their mog

If you’re struggling to get above 1000 rating, there is something you are doing that is fundamentally wrong, down to the very basics. Although I’m sure it would be nice if Blizzard changed how the matchmaking rating system worked to better accommodate you, in your particular situation it would probably be easier to work on getting better at playing the game.

I’m going to offer you some help. I will assume that you know absolutely nothing and start with the very basics. Even if you’re confident that you understand some of the points I discuss, I would encourage you to review them anyways:

  • Gearing
    • You don’t have any crafted pieces of gear, and are missing out on the embellishments, gems, and enchants. Having more mastery will really help with your damage.
    • You are also missing the tier-set, as that is important for havoc dh this season (but it’s understandable why, as you are still working on getting conquest)
  • Talents
    • Your talent build is sub-optimal, most high rated players choose to play the Aldrachi Reaver hero talents, and pick different bottom-row talents from the specialization tree. I’ll include a link to the build code for the most common build that high rated players use
    • CEkAp/epaxe7D0A403L+Tvk0iygZmZMjxMjZmJDzAAAAAAAmFjZZMzMzsNzMWmZMjlZGmZbmlZWmtZmZW2mlppZMzYGLAAAAAAIAzMzMYAIAAwA
      • You are low enough rated that you can play whatever talent build you like the most, but if you are really struggling, it can help to have a better build
  • Using keybinds for your abilities, and your mouse to move your character
    • Using the 1-6 keys, some of the letter keys around your movement keybinds. Start simple, bind the normal keys for your damage rotation first and then bind the rest of the abilities as you get more comfortable using your keyboard instead of clicking on abilities with your mouse.
  • Damage rotation

Honestly, watching a youtube guide on how to play havoc demon hunter will probably really help you out by itself. Start with focusing on your damage rotation right now, because that will make the biggest difference. A lot more than gear or talent build alone.
