Rated PvP makes NO sense

Seems a bit far fetched that you went from leveling gear like 130-180 to 266 in 10 hours with no outside assistance.

But who knows, maybe you did.

Isn’t ZM Anima gear like 229 or something

Idk what he played on his Druid but I could probably do something similar on any healer in Solo Shuffle because it’s instant queues and juicy honor provided you aren’t inting every match

Solo shuffle is only that kind of honor if you win 3 or more matches. Zero assistance I’d say I could probably get full honor geared, conquest capped, and double leggo in a week from fresh if I was playing a healer. 10 hours might be possible now, I haven’t geared a new toon on a while.

Even if you did solo shuffle for 10 hours you are not getting enough honor to upgrade every Asparans item to max as well as your Gladiator items to Challenger 2. And playing 44 arena matches.

So did he not mean fresh 60 then? Does he mean fresh from S2?

Time is the opposite of simple??? lolwat someone pack em up

Riot will most certainly not get the Balancing right lol, but they will definitely have a better pro scene than wow that’s actually funded with decent prizes. Expect that alone to cost blizzard subs as all their high end pvpers leave and stream riot pvp. Blizzard has had a real shot for awhile now to make wow pvp very successful and a lot of players enjoy it the very few times it was balanced properly, but this just seems like another MOBA situation where blizzard has something right under their noses and its gonna take a whole other company to actually capitalize on it.

for all the complaints rito gets about balancing they are making WEEKLY changes with a roster of 159+ champions, diff item builds, and 3 diff game states, and different comps. all giving endless amount of scenarios to try and balance. it is impossible to balance a beast like that but they constantly try. blizz doesnt try at all, they let specs run roughshod on the ladder for months and months and its miserable to play.

sitting on a pillar getting aoe’d from both sides and if you leave the pillar you get 5 feet out get frostbite root lose 60% of your health and try and waddle back behind cover and hope you dont get rng rooted again and die. most classes and specs need reworked, burst needs gutted and sustained need boosted up. mobility is too high, too many micro cc’s too many passive tankiness options, hybrids need to bring more support and not just be heal bots. they need to look at lost ark on how they do the templates, diff heal pools for diff classes because a mage should never be tankier than a warrior or have the same health pool.

Your post is kinda fried man. Some of his post is laughable, but you can’t deny that gearing right now is rough for newer people, as is getting rating.

Return to WoD gearing and all will be fixed

It’s annoying but it’s not that bad. They nerfed the honor required by a ton. I fully geared my alt by just spamming 2s.

The vault is dumb for sure because you fall behind fast early but you pvp to get gear. Upgrade it as you go up in rating and have to do 2 world quests a day and that prog is account wide. It ain’t THAT bad

Dayum dude, are you a paladin main, because you need to get off your Divine Steed.

Oh yeah if you’re a regular pvper then you’ll be fine. It’s still bleh compared to WoD and even MoP though.

But one point he does have is that casual pvpers do make up a large portion of the community. Now, should we listen to them on balance issues? Not at all. But should we listen to them when it comes to gearing? Especially alt gearing? I’d say yeah. Because even you admit that gearing can be a little whack, even if it’s something as simple as time investment

Yeah but how far we going to take it? They’ve already added artificial inflation so everyone can get their transmog and enchants. Glad is 2400 and seasons last 9 months so everyone that has keybinds gets their mount.

It’s a bad slope listening to the community of your worst players and mmorpgs have been doing it for years ruining their game catering to people that don’t even play they do lil bits of casual content and then demand a big list of changes to dumb the game down

That’s why people are flocking away from MMOs and moving to competitive games. League/Apex/valorant ect because the bad players lose and they don’t shift the rules to help them win like WoW does

I wish I got an enchant. Best I could do is 1800 last season.

There’s an interesting video from Josh Strife Hayes that disproves this; MMOs have always been niche, and blizzard seems focused on balancing the content (both PvE and PvP) around the top 1%-ers instead of the casual masses. As a result, the game becomes even more niche, elitism runs rampant as proven by your earlier post in this thread, and ‘casuals’ are really only casual-in-name. It turns into the ‘lucky’ vs ‘unlucky’, as it seems placements in a season are early-and-fast, much like tickets to a concert (And much like tickets to a concert, being ‘late’ means you have to pay a premium third-party to get up to where the ‘fun’ is).

Not true at all in regards to arena.

…What? Is this some privileged joke I’m too peasant to understand?

It ENTIRELY applies to arena! This is a game centered around the gear-treadmill. Call it ‘skill’ as much as you want, but until we have equalizing of gear ilvl, there’s going to be a large piece of the pie-chart dedicated to it. Someone who comes in with gear that is 12+ ilvls over yours, assuming equal skill, is going to step on you (Or at least, punish you more for mistakes). Heck, I can feel a distinct difference between just 6 item levels (via upgrades) in a weapon hitting me in the face!

But okay, lets say item levels are equalized, then what? Well, then it’s all-skill, right? In theory, yes. However, no amount of research and youtube is going to prepare my armchair-armed self for actual experience. People who place high, early on, are expected to consistently play against high skilled players. At my level, the 1600’s, I am consistently having a roller-coaster ride of up-down-up-down-up-down. I am throttled between people that seem to be at my ‘level’ in one match, where I can reasonably win (or lose), but then end up fighting against these duelist-glad level players in the next matchup. At 1600. Each win gives me +9 rating, while each loss is -15 or greater. I’ve been playing 200+ matches a week, so this isn’t just some “lol play more”.

I am the casual that your 2100+ self mocks for having no experience. I am the casual that wants cool stuff, and is happy to grind out the effort to earn it. But, by your earlier comment, I guess I just ‘stay bad’ and quit the game? Do I just buy a carry so I can get my cosmetic rewards and call it a season?

I think part of the problem with your line of thinking is how much value you place on other players and gear. Last seasons glad/duelist players aren’t that much better than the average player, and being intimidated by their mount or gear is just putting you at an immediate disadvantage.

You have to be willing to learn, take punches on the chin, look past the gear, look past the rating, and just play to get better. I don’t play much these days but that’s the best advice I can offer.

When you fight someone equal to you and then have a hard game the next it’s because the game is seeing if you’re ready to go up or not. Working as intended.

What do you want? Be a 1600 player and always fight 1600 players but go up in CR? Not how ranked systems work man when you beat a 1600 team they pair you against higher and higher teams until you lose. That’s literally how you rank up

Gear balances out after the early phase when everyone’s full geared. Falling behind happens early then evens out. That’s an issue with seasonal gameplay not ranked systems

I look past the gear.
I pick myself up and try again.
I try to experiment with my spec to find a balance of comfort and efficiency.
I even try different roles (DPS to healer, etc.) to try different angles for success.
I try to consider different comps and matchups to make the most of things.

But when push comes to shove, all I want is some cool cosmetics that are locked behind high numbers, and my inadequacy to reach that number.

Okay, but then why is the ‘glad’ (or ex-glad) team hitting me down for 1.5x my own win? Why does the game decide that I suck so much that I need to be even lower than the ‘equal’ skill levels I fight? Isn’t that literally the opposite of the ‘cr inflation’ people talk about?

I’m saying that I’m beating people who are 1600, losing to people who are 1800+, but I can’t fight enough people who are 1600+ to reach that 1800+. As a result, this comment:

No longer applies. Your ‘everyone’ is not my ‘everyone’, and you don’t seem to be understanding that. If the people I’m fighting will always be better geared than me, better skilled than me, doesn’t that mean I will always be fighting at a disadvantage, until I hit duelist (which I’ve demonstrated I literally cannot do)?

I can sit here and blame over a dozen things (class, spec, covenant, talents, gear ilvl, gear stats, team comp, partner choices, arena map, area awareness, communication, active meta, experience, etc.), soldier on with flayed optimism, but that’s not going to make my magical ‘git gud’ number any higher. In fact, as I just said, it’s even getting lower, because winning 2 matches in a row, and then losing 1, gets me a net gain of +3 points, and heaven forbid I queue into a counter-comp, ‘skilled’ meta-comp, or accidentally step into a gimmick that deletes me in 0.2 seconds. Using this vicious cycle of low ‘net gains’ from a 2:1 ratio, a ‘second loss’ at any point can set me back by up to 15 games. That’s an hour of my playtime, deleted in 2 minutes or less!

Why are you inadequate? Do you lack hand eye coordination? Are you a bad learner? What is holding you back? Everyone is capable of improving, everyone has a limit to how high they can go, but I promise you 1800 probably isn’t yours.

If I knew the answers to that, I would probably be a better PvPer, and not sitting in solo shuffle making whiny forum posts about the Rated PvP system needing to cater more to casuals.

You’re not wrong, it’s 1600. since that’s where I’m stuck.
