I loved Star Wars Galaxies but it seems like no one else did or everyone forgot about it.

DAoC was and will be my all time favorite. The caveat is up until New Frontiers. I had more time to play back then and dedicated my time to living in the Frontier zones reporting on enemy movements.

My second favorite would be SWTOR. Unfortunately I could only play deep nights due to work and the game just wasn’t popular enough after hours to have a thriving community. Then it went F2P and I immediately lost all interest.

WoW has been the MMO that I’ve played the most and longest. But now I just feel like I’m going through the motions and the game is barely interesting at all.

Honorable mention if you consider it a MMO would be Elite Dangerous.

I’m waiting to see how Camelot Unchained turns out. Waiting… waiting… waiting…

Unfortunately I don’t have a huge amount of MMO experience compared to some. Haven’t run around playing every MMO people have talked about. But I still have a decent amount under my belt.

In terms of how much I’ve enjoyed my time with them…

  1. WoW
  2. Runescape (2006 era – not OSRS)
  3. Wildstar
  4. FFXIV

That’s probably about right. Keeping in mind that #2 slot for Runescape is entirely based on my memory of it from when I was 10. If I played that today, it likely wouldn’t rank so highly. I do feel like it’s a wasted opportunity for OSRS to include the Grand Exchange though. Bank Spam was such a big part of that experience for me, as stupid as that sounds. I wish they would have implemented more of a market system instead, like, put up your stall with the items you’re selling and their prices, that some older MMOs did. Would’ve been more in line with what RS was IMO.

Actually, you know what, I forgot about BDO.

Let’s slap that right below FFXIV. It’ll never be a main game for me, but it’s a very fun distraction now and again. The combat is fantastic, even if the game is basically pure grind and P2W item enhancement gambling.

GW2 is REALLY fun for a once-through for story. I especially love the Heart of Thorns story, and the meta events in that expansion. But it’s terrible as a long-term MMO. There’s very little progression to be had, and that’s like 90% of the reason I play this genre.

I love how I’m seeing such a healthy mix of games. It essentially means the mmorpg is aging and ripe for innovation. Blizzard is in position to pull a home run with some minor systematic tweaking. Looking forward to all these games evolving further.
