During my 3 times ranking to 14, 13 and 13 again, I never once afk’d, farmed hks, or account shared. Objectives Objectives Objectives. When you’re playing over 40 hours a week or closer to 80 hours in some cases, slacking will just make you tired. Balls to the wall 110% at all times is the only way to stay awake when you’re going on no more than 4 hours sleep a day for a couple weeks.

What pvp has been since the announcement of the new pvp system isn’t what I’m talking about. I’m talking about what pvp was like prior to the announcement.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this thread because it told me exactly how this is going to play out.
premaders swarm AB and WSG looking for pugs to farm
pugs ditch AB and WSG, go to AV instead as they get basically nothing being farmed by nax geared premades
premades are forced to constantly dodge other premades, desperate for a pug to be stupid enough to queue up. Everyone knows premades talk a big game but they refuse to face anyone operating on the same level of gear and coordination despite what they claim
premades’ precious hph drops to miniscule amounts. One of them gets desperate enough to try and revive the AV premader to get at all those pugs just trying to gear up that are long since sick of being farmed by premades.
At this point, one of two things happens:
- Blizzard decides its in their best interest to prevent AV premading by any means necessary, breaking the addon(s) enabling it client side
Or
- Blizzard dgaf, lets it happen. Participation craters as pugs realize its just as impossible as before to use PvP to do anything but get farmed by premades. Premaders eventually the only ones left queueing, spend all day dodging eachother until they begin win trading.
I look forward to watching which one Blizzard picks.

You have to be challenged in some way to find Pre-made vs Pug entertaining from either side of the equation. It so lacks entertainment value that people are willing to spend hours running sand from one side of Silithus to the other.
Those are some good predictions. Although you missed the part when win-trading becomes meta in wsg and ab.
Nah theyll just dodge eachother as thats not something that Blizzard could potentially take action against.
Win trading will be the last resort if participation craters. Itll let the mafia try and re exert control.

So to share my story when I ranked my original Mootwo-Earthfury it was during gen 1, although I hit R14 early April so that was later but I PVPed the whole time. I loved the wpvp part, HATED the queue AV as a solo horde player and competing with people running botting strips part, and loved the WSG and later queue weaving AB part.
I did deprive myself of sleep due to a full-time job and a commute although covid brought the job home during my last 2 weeks so that was better. Also, I ran AB/WSG with premades but had to pug an extra 3 hours a day because being a FC gives worse HPH than the rest of the team gets.
Anyway, there was one time I fell asleep 9/10 times. That was during my last game of the night when my 2.5 hour AV queue would pop. I’d go in to farm my end-of-the-day honor and I’d jolt awake angry at myself for being booted having the scardey cat logo on my head. The other games all kept me engaged.
If you want to go it alone in AV great but personally I don’t get the wanting to rush AV and being happy with doing the sand thing part, but I personally really enjoy the BGs for what they are supposed to be for, and I enjoy playing with other people too.

Actually Arathi Basin is my favorite battleground. Only when the two sides are reasonably matched though.
You do realise people still get honor even if they lose during the current week bg, right? AB wont give u free honor unless you hold st/farm flag for 2/3 minutes though. AV/WSG you get honor regardless.
The major issue of ranking was literally the ranking factions players part, if all you gotta do is grind a fixed amount of honor it honestly doesnt matter even if you are losing or winning, you will most likely hit the cap if you have 4/5 hours a day to pvp.
Also the entire barrier for you stopping to pug and do a premade is just talking with people that are pvping lol. None of the curretn premades were limited to only a guild or only one discord.
neither am i. Although it vastly increased in participation in the last 3 weeks.
And how would this rolls out? Most of the time premade vs premade goes into farming kills if you cant cap flags.

Yeah that 100 some honor for a 0 point AB farmout is totally gonna be worth the time when you can get that by accident in AV in a quarter of the time with significantly less pain.
Edit: and dont get me started on the depravity i already know you “people” are going to pull in WSG up until PUGs quit queueing.
The update might bring more pugging and not as geared players from both sides in than you’d expect. If you have fun in AB it’s worth trying that at least.
Diminishing returns on HKs means they only go so far. Even if there are 3-4 premades on both sides running, You’ve got 6-8 games before you’re maxed on HK honor. At which point it becomes all about win/loss. Then win trading becomes meta as the teams will start taking turns winning/losing 3-2.
You dont get honor for 0 points AV/AB/WSG
Although if u cant even get 100 its a total skill issue because you cant kill 3 people as a team lol.
Its around 1k-2k btw for holding the flag and collecting hks for 6 mins. Depends on who you killing,

Av each loss is 1.4k.

The servers are up already? And actually I’ll que up for AV and go run sand. Now if most games are pug vs pug that is a different story. That gets the blood pumping and actually qualifies as fun.

It’s crazy but I feel like I want to push again even though I’ve got nobody even remotely ready to go with. It’s probably better for my sake that I don’t so I can stick to the promise I made to myself of not getting sucked in until fresh/the season.
