Random Paladin Ramblings

I’ve just had a bunch of random Paladin class changes on my mind as someone who has been playing all three specs for a while, and who loves the class in this game and all other games.

Retribution:

  • Its all hammer themed which rocks, but then Blade of Justice is….also there. I’ve never been a fan of this spell, and don’t enjoy pressing it, why a sword, why out of the ground, give us something else please.
  • I wish it didn’t feel quite so button mashy (this is a complaint i have about the game as a whole) but Paladins should feel calm and methodical, and not like I am punishing my keyboard because the rotation is just ‘hit all your little spells the milisecond they are off cooldown’ something halfway between this and the slower Classic version would be fun

Protection:

  • bring back some version of Holy Shield, or some kind of other more intentional rotational buff, one that lasts a little longer so I am not pressing it every two seconds or constantly losing it like…
  • Shield of the Righteous is such a lackluster button and keeping the buff up feels like busy work for barely anything.
  • I am going to get a lot of flack for this but I am not an Avenger’s shield fan, at least in its current form. It would be cool if the particle effects looked like your currently equipped shield or something.

Holy:

  • there is a lot of talk around Crusader’s strike right now I know so I won’t go into that
  • Something more in between a healer and a buffer would be fun, the blessings and auras are really fun and unique and i wish they factored more into the regular rotation, maybe even borrow or expand on some concepts from Aug evoker.
  • lean more into the concept of you either build them as a melee healer or a caster healer, and have certain talent nodes or choices really pull you one direction or the other.

Overall:

Get rid of Holy Power, its clunky and annoying and I’ve never liked it.

Thanks! I am bored at work and wanted to vent some random thoughts i’ve been having, hopefully it sparks some fun discussion.
