Are you Multiboxing on a PVP server? As in, playing 2 or more characters at once? Let’s hear about you and your plans!

About me:

I’m @StartupTim aka Multiboxing on Twitch. I’ve been multiboxing WoW since the very beginning and have been involved in WoW from a community standpoint from the start. I was the founding creator of the largest multiboxing program, Pwnboxer, which boasted over 300,000 active WoW retail accounts at it’s peak. In case you were wondering how large multiboxing was, there you have it.

I was also the founding CEO of Wowhead, Wowguilds, a few WoW guide sites, along with helping some smaller sites out with free hosting, giveaways, and such. I was also one of the original gaming admininistrators at JTV/Twitch.

My Plans:

I’m coming back to WoW in Classic and am very excited. I’m rolling on Stallag and plan to have a few teams, but below is my first:

  • 2x Orc Shaman (Resto)
  • 3x Orc Hunters (BM)

My plan is to level them until 12 or so via simple quests and grinding mobs. With a team like this, Arcane shot + pets + Earthshock makes any attacking mob instantly dead.

After reaching 12, I plan to run RFC until I can’t take it any longer. This will allow me to completely gear up the team and fully prepare them for SFK.

Upon reaching 17/18, I plan on getting a Screeching pet from the Alliance area. This pet is incredibly amazing as the AOE screech will allow you to effectively AOE tank every single instance with 3x BM pets, which make amazing tanks. The 2x Shamans drop totems + healing, making instancing quite effective.

After SFK is farmed, SM will be farmed, yielding an enormous amount of greens, blues, and cloth. After SM, ZF, and after ZF, ST. Then I’ll decide what to do next.

As far as this team goes, it has immense healing (2x Resto Shamans), immense WPVP potential (3x BM hunters will immediately kill any target + tremor totem fear nullifier + 2x Shamans chain light/totem spam). Orc stun resist is incredibly helpful in PVP. Having macros like 3x Hunter FD/Flame trap + 2x Nova totem will do incredible point-blank AOE DPS. This team is brutally efficient at world PVP. Believe me.

Follow-up Teams:

I plan to also do a 4x Warrior + 1x Shaman team to AOE grind instances. I also plan to do a 5x Boomkin team simply for fun.

I’ll also secretly be feeding gear to a 4x or 5x Rogue team. Yes, instant killing from Stealth will be brutal.

One thing I really like doing is dropping one of my 5x Multiboxing team members for an hour or so and inviting a random person and trying my absolute best to gear them up. I love the concept of shouting in /1 “Hey, I’m multiboxing ZF and can handle it “solo”. If you’re looking to get gear, have fun with a Mboxer, and chat, let me know and I’ll invite you in! No cost and you can keep any gear you need”.

Exposing new people to the fun side of multiboxing has always been a passion of mine, whether it be inviting them to an instance, streaming the whole multiboxing process, or having them be the target of 5x Chain Lightnings :heart_eyes:

Not at all! In fact, there were several GMs that were known to be multiboxers as well!

The key to multiboxing, as with any other play style, is to simply have fun and be respectful of everybody else having fun. Do that and you’ll be fine.

I’m gonna run a pally, mage, druid team as a support for the pally.

If I wind up enjoying classic. I will pull up 2 more mages as irregular supports.

Should be fun.
That’s about as far as my plans go.

Nothing more aggravating to me out in the world than multi-boxers.

I’m going for some shadowplay, 2 locks and a priest. I’m going to quest to 11-12 then probably grind for cloth, and maybe do the “Kill mobs” quests. The collection quests are pretty much out of the question, unless the mobs drop cloth. My priest will have healbot on a second monitor for easy healing, I might do some dungeons if I find a tank. I plan on doing SFK, for the wand, but not sure if I will do many more than that. (I’ll also be able to summon people anywhere I am ^.^)

Back in Vanilla I always thought multiboxers were just rich people with loads of free time. Paying for 5+ accounts and having enough PC power to run 5 clients could not have been cheap.

I pity any Alliance on Stallag, it’s not fun encountering a multiboxer.

Back then all the way up to WOTLK my hobby when bored was finding and alerting GM’s of bots. It really was a fun hobby of finding them and alerting the GM’s I felt like Dexter Morgan.

I thought they broke addons from auto-selecting and casting the “correct” spell. I’m wondering how it’s possible to multi-box?

I am assuming all clients are running on the same system, and you are somehow “tricking” all the windows to be active at the same time so the same keybind goes to each client running. Does that mean when you push the ‘F’ key, each toon casts what that is bound to?

I’m not understanding how multiboxing works.

Greets Startuptim. I currently help organize the Texas and Orlando streamer community meetup groups. I will be multiboxing to some degree with my three accounts, but I’ll be on a PvE server and it’s just to have my profession alts leveled to max as fast as possible. I haven’t decided exactly how many characters I’ll be playing at a time or which characters will be doing which profession yet either.
