It depends on your definition of hard. For my guild, which was casual to be sure, it took us several months to clear MC(from when we first zoned in to killing Ragnaros). Most of that was farming FR gear to kill Ragnaros which takes so long for 50+ people. I remember killing Lucifron the first raid and the next few bosses died in the next week or two. It slowed down a bit starting with Garr. We only raided probably 4-8 hours total a week and it took us a long time to clear. I would say our guild was below average to be sure but these fights were not cakewalks for anyone. The first Ragnaros kill was 6 months after launch, now it will happen in first week? The Ragnaros fight is not about skill is about FR gear and getting 40 people all the crafted gear they need to survive takes forever. You have to grind the rep for the recipes but all the gear requires MC mats to craft so you canāt just farm it, you are limited to a certain amount each week. It just takes time, no amount of learning can bypass that.
Iām just waiting to read about pugs who still manage to mess up on āIf youāre the bomb, get out of the raid. Watch your threat.ā
Early raids, a lot of that stuff wonāt matter. 1.12 talents and better itemization, and threat buffs. Mobs will die faster.
we are getting 1.12, much easier than the early vanilla days
we have to remind people of that every day it seems like
Consider the fact that in Classic, we have raid markers from the beginning. Nobody will experience the sheerā¦funā¦of trying to assign people to 8 individual, identical, adds moving in a circle.
Yeah absolutely, things are certainly going to be easier than vanilla days, by a lot. My point is that people shouldnāt expect the cake walk that is private server raiding. It will be harder and I think significantly so.
I was in a casual family friendly guild at the start of my MC runs and it was hard due to half the raid just wanting to be there and not really caring about clearing or not. Iāll never forget one DPs Warrior that had white plate boots equipped at lvl 60. A pair of mail greens with hardly any stats is better but it was vanilla and a lot of people had no clue.
Also bosses on private servers are reverse engineered. They start out with only auto attacks and then private server devs need to script them from memory or old footage. A lot of times they are missing spells and phases. A lot of private servers donāt even have developers, they just use the source code they have and donāt fix anything.
This is why Iām looking forward to official classic wow, Blizzard should have all the correct data they need to get it working properly, this is what Iām willing to pay for, higher quality classic wow.
