You’ll have plenty of time to play if the wives and girlfriends are healing you.
This is standard operating procedure, people.
Bonus tip: If your children are under the age of 10, they tend to make decent Hunters.

Although leveling will be much more time-consuming in Classic than in retail, max-level PvE is actually much less time-consuming, if you want it to be.
All you have to do is log in for the raid times. Maybe 5 hours a week. You don’t really need to do any consumable farming. To the extent any rep grinds are required, they’ll come with time. You might occasionally need to farm some gold for repairs.
No Mythic+ to run, no dailies to run, no Pathfinder to unlock, no farming for titanforged gear or azerite power, etc etc.
theres a whole youtube thing about “dad gaming” that could answer your question but here it is:
if you maximize your time and plan ahead on the time you get when youre not doing anything else , you can do quite a bit.
Just dump the girlfriend and tell her to take the cats with her. Raiding is way more important. It’s not like you are married or anything.
There are plenty of others in the same boat (everyone “has a life,” bud). I’ve seen some ads for guilds that offer a number of different raid times.
We have a wonky schedule, so we’ll have to find other people with similar available time slots. It’s not like the stuff is going away in a couple months, so that helps too.
Half my guild “has a life” and they have no problem raiding on the weekend. Anyone complaining that they don’t have time to play an mmo must be working 3 jobs or have 10 kids or something or they aren’t even trying…
I was married with kids back in vanilla. The only difference now is I get tired faster. I’m going to bed at 9 during the week and I don’t care what anyone says.
I’m looking for this guild. I want people to laugh when we wipe, and then go to bed.
It depends on what class you play. Mages and Hunters are great for farming gold so you can easily afford consumables. Both of them also level quickly compared to other classes. Healers and Warriors aren’t nearly as good at farming gold and those classes are also inferior for leveling. The only advantage they have is less competition for pre-BiS gear as they can easily set up groups so no one else is rolling for what they want in most cases.
No.
Yes.
My brother has 2 kids and a wife; I have neither, so I’ll be leveling an alt with him at his pace while my main goes faster.
Just buy gold, then all you have to do is show up for raids. If you have more money than time, it’s not logical to farm gold for hundreds of hours. Trade with someone else.
Do you live on a farm?
Anyway, I don’t plan to raid because my timezone isn’t in the US anymore.
I dedicate my 2 days off a week to raiding, I’m off Tues/wed anyway so nothing usually goes on in my life with kids and wife anyway and raids don’t start till 9pm my time anyway.
By then kids are pretty much done for the day anyway, I help during the day etc. My wife doesn’t mind since I make enough for her to not work and she can be a house wife.
Yes it’s possible because we’re playing EZ mode 1.12.
The only content in the game that will eat time for progression are parts of AQ and Naxx because of the consumables required for certain encounters.
Outside of that 1.12 is just a catch up mechanic version of Vanilla designed to get everyone through the content.
This does come with a benefit for everyone; now nearly anyone can see and enjoy the content and gives us a lot more time to PVP.
That’s your problem.
Seriously, I can’t stand this sort of thing. And this is coming from someone who is 32, married and also working full time.
If you don’t have time to play games/wow/whatever, that’s YOUR problem. Either find time to do it or don’t do it at all. This is so selfish. Every couple of days there is a “some of us have jobs you know…” thread.
Just, try to think about how you’re older and your priorities had to change a bit. Spend more time with your wife.
I’ve raided with some people with wife and kids before, where I could either hear kids crying on the background or their wives yelling. It’s just insane.
Just be happy that Classic is a million times more casual than retail and just take it easy, find a casual guild with 1-2h raiding sessions and enjoy.
few hours a night, few days a week, find a guiild that raids at a time that suits you. ie; i always go 9pm+ start as my kids are in bed.
Everything up to and including BWL shouldn’t be much of a problem for any raid group, so long as they show up. With 1.12, won’t even need a strict raid comp to down bosses in a reasonable time limit.
After that is where things get more demanding. Even though the DPS requirements remain very low, there is still a matter of being able to potentially complete the raid in a timely manner, fatigue, and healer mana. Some or many raiding guilds may not get very far into AQ40 or Naxx, but that’s just how things worked then; instead of many difficulty levels per raid, each subsequent raid was kind of a new difficulty level in itself.
Everyone can raid, not everyone can go for the gold or be among the server first. Lots of confusion around here about raiding implying clearing everything in its content bucket. Kind of like in modern WoW where some think that a guild has to clear mythic to qualify as a raiding guild. The elite content/players gets most of the attention, even though they only represent a tiny percentage of the playerbase.
I once had 21 cats. Started as 3, all because one of them wasn’t spayed.
I was your age when wow released in 2004. How time flies.
Yup.
The kids can farm gold for you.(for those who have them)
The wife can be your pocket healer.
Get bigger water/food bowls for the doggies.
Use vaca,(fridays and mondays to max)sick days, and weekends to family wow.
GG.
The guilds with moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, and various others… the ones who start a raid but can’t finish because of life things… ones who are good people and try but struggle and need encouragement… those are the best guilds. You can keep your elite guilds who only care about numbers and success. I like guild who care about their people.
