There is no other way to do the story when you have a faked faction conflict.
Yeah, this isn’t possible.

World PVP in the first few expansions, yes. The sad thing posing as world PVP as it’s been for many expansions, no.
How you gonno cringe without a mouth
This so much. I see realid friends on Alliance doing random things all the time, I prefer Horde, and my best geared character is actually this paladin. I would like to sometimes say sure, I’ll give it a try.
I agree that there is not enough tension but I would agree with the idea that modern gaming shouldn’t be separating players. Take New World as an example, game is kinda bad and has many problems but I think their “faction” idea is great. Players choose a side for PvP reasons mainly but can still freely group with others (as far as I have gotten) to do the dungeons. I think WoW can easily go this route since WM already exists as a thing for WPvP
No, I don’t think they should remove key world pvp elements from the game. That doesn’t even cause the imbalance. The imbalance is in high end raids.
We’re not fighting Horde v Alliance in a raid. There doesn’t need to be faction tension when we’re all trying to DPS the Lich King or whoever.
warmode isn’t exactly the same as world PvP. You could’ve played on a PvE server back in the day and still had a lot of world PvP it was just more selective where there would be a raid on your area and it would result in world PvP. That’s actually how I preferred it rather than just the ganking you’d fine on PvP centric servers. When I tried PvP servers it usually had a higher level rogue gank me or a group would run into some people of theother faction and a skirmish would occur and it would end fast. That’s not even close to the world PvP I loved to be a part of which were larger scale battles and usually would happen naturally. Warmode or anything of today doesn’t really capture that.
And that’s a problem with warmode and not a factor in faction imbalance.
You’re thinking of it from an immersed point of view, some people don’t care about that and just want to raid because raiding is fun to them.
Nooo!! I the guards. Especially the ones in Ironforge.
As I stated in another thread, the war doesn’t have to be Horde against Alliance. There are plenty of other non-player threats that we can war against. Plus, doesn’t it add more dramatic tension, to have characters whose beliefs are at odds with the person next to them, while working towards the same overall goal? Does it feel better to stride into an instance with like-minded individuals, who all have (mostly) the same worldview?
It’s a problem with the whole game really. The roots of the game has been lost. Back in the day if anyone heard there was Horde attacking an Alliance area or causing problems there would be Alliance lined up at the gate ready to go defend it. Now, no one gives a crap what the Horde are doing they could sit there and kill low level NPCS and barely a few Alliance would pay attention. The whole spirit of that time in the game is dead. There was passion and excitement any time stuff like that would naturally happen, pride in your faction and constant fun things that would go on throughout the day. There’s just none of that left in the current game.
People keep saying fix faction balance but no one talks about how to actually do it
If that’s all they care about, there tons of games out there that offer raiding without a faction divide…
That is bs. This expac started out with active world pvp and there was a lot in Nazjatar in BFA as well.
It’s not active now because of the game’s fuge state.
I just wanna play a human and be able to do content with my bros who play on horde.
Raiding as good as Wow’s?
I only play wow so I can’t speak from experience but from all the FF/NewWorld/ESO/BDO threads I’ve seen people always say that while Wow might suck to them for whatever reason Wow does have the best raids.
Blizz has. They are entertaining the idea of having cross faction raids. Raiding scene is where the imbalance primarily exists.
I think most people’s problems with this is that for SOME REASON they think every war has to be some big world war… we’ve had like 2 IRL, and those actually caused most countries to consider that maybe all out global wars weren’t a spectacular idea (especially after the advent and subsequent booming popularity of the nuclear bomb that everyone has 1,000s of). You can have different kinds of wars: local wars, civil wars, even cold wars where nothing really happens.
The two biggest factions don’t even need to be at war at this point for there to BE a war, we have several rep factions outside of Horde V Alliance that either hate each other or are outright neutral to all other factions, enough that we could either carry on the faction war for decades with them alone or even give players a neutral option.
