You have infinite charges, but you can only have 6 at 1 time
So you can enter a week with 6, spend 1, then get another, and you’ll still have 6.

Spam M+7/8’s: 385 ilvl drops and catalyst converts it to LFR appearance. Using Valor once will upgrade it to 389 and provide you normal ilvl appearance as well. From there you can farm 20’s for 405 that will catalyst to heroic and then convert to mythic at 415 with valor, or just upgrade from 385 to 415 using all valor after using catalyst on it, it’s your time and resources.

Just farm Valor in +2s and upgrade all the way.
Easier than refarming drops in 20s.

Yup either way, up to them idc. But 385 is the most efficient conversion mark to start from.
Indeed, VP + full set of 385s and 9 charges = all 4 sets unlocked, granted you can also get 2400 IO.

I queued for LFR on my 400ish ilev Warrior and was able to need on everything. 
Transmogs for you brother! SKOL!
Counterpoint. It’s been having to wait for an xpac or 3 before farming old raids was was viable for getting transmog items for a lot of everyone else.
Grind = bad, yes, but waiting a year or more to go back for it is the other alternative.

The issue is a result of Blizzard not wanting geared players rolling need on gear lower item level than them.
So instead of letting the 400 ilvl Mage roll need on the green tmog helm, which is probably why they’re in LFR to begin with, they have to go do M+ and convert it.

Or wait for the 2nd expansion after this one to come back and solo grind it out of the boss like everyone else does who doesn’t do M+ or didn’t get it at all.
Which will be impossible for many of the pieces, as the Catalyst won’t exist anymore for that set.
Some of the appearances right now are only available through the Catalyst, which means when the Catalyst switches over to the new season gear, you won’t be able to obtain those pieces anymore.
Tough call for Blizz then. Do you have people badmouth the game and quit because people are needing items for transmog, not item level or player power, or tell those players that transmog is more important in a game that’s all about player power and item level?
The do have the Trading Post though…where things like those appearances could technically show up…at some point…
Player power progression trumps transmog. Players gatekeep other players beyond the point of bullying over item level. Even the game participation mechanics are based on item level. Until item level is out of the picture…
And if people feel that to be unfair not to be able to get the LFR version after getting the Normal version…I guess it’s really bad for people who get the Mythic version because “that’s the only challenge” and just skipped getting most of the pieces already and now they’re really screwed.
Putting those kind of items on TP is ridiculously asinine.
They could offer Ensembles you can buy with raid currency though.
Blizz wants it both ways…they want the FOMO of the transmog motivating people to run while at the same time driving the item level and player power FOMO.
Buying the transmog with raid currency would be seen as negatively impacting MAU.
Maximum of 6 charges at ONCE.
It recharges every week, ad eternum.

The pieces don’t drop anyway. You can’t farm them.
