Raid Testing Schedule - April 16th

On Friday, April 16th, we will be starting our raid tests in the Sanctum of Domination.

As always, this testing schedule is very fluid and subject to the realities of a test environment. We might have to change the time of a testing session, change the bosses being tested, or cancel a test entirely, due to bugs, server hardware issues, etc. Keep an eye on this forum for the latest information, and thank you in advance for testing and providing feedback.

Q: How do I get into the raid zone?

A: In Oribos, Dalaran, Orgrimmar, or Stormwind, you may speak to Nexus-Lord Donjon Rade IV in order to teleport into the raid zone while it is open for testing. (The option to teleport into a zone will not be available when the zone is not open for testing.)

Q: What character should I use to test the raid?

A: Whichever you prefer. We will be scaling players’ effective level to 60 for raid testing, and their item level to an appropriate threshold for the encounter(s) being tested.

Q: How long does testing last?

A: The primary purpose of testing is to give us the information we need to balance the encounters, evaluate how mechanics are playing out in practice, and identify bugs. Once we’re satisfied that we’ve received that information for a given boss, we’ll be shutting down testing. Usually this takes anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours, but there are no guarantees.

40% of our damage is based on Rapture…

  • Malefic Rapture damage reduced by 18%.

Agony does garbage damage anyway. This does nothing helpful overall.

  • Agony damage increased by 20%.

This conduit will likely never be used anymore; even worse that you can only have embrace on one target.

  • Shadow Embrace now lasts 16 seconds (was 12 seconds) and can now only be applied to 1 target at a time.
  • Focused Malignancy (Conduit) effectiveness reduced by 53%.

Now Essentially a useless legendary. (Hope we get a refund… if only)

  • Sacrolash’s Dark Strike (Runecarving Power) has been redesigned – Corruption damage is increased by 25% (was 15%), and each time Corruption deals damage, it extends the duration of all your Curses active on the target by 2 seconds (was Corrupted targets movement speed slowed by 50%).

As it turns out, classes that are found to be performing extraordinarily well are tuned as to not be as strong between patches. You should probably be posting this under class feedback… and keep in mind 9.1 is still months away.

Will Castle Nathria be available/playable during the testing time?

Due to an issue with the anima powers on the Tarragrue encounter I have enabled the Guardian of the First Ones while a hotfix is applied to address the issue. We will return to the Tarragrue after we conclude testing of the Guardian of the First Ones.

Can we just, scrap the last 10% of the Tarragrue concept and do something completely different? Him moving slowly, only melee attacking, and being a requirement to kite is not an interesting mechanic.

I get the idea that you’re going for, with this big monstrosity slowly going around killing your raid one by one and having to burn him down before he wipes out everyone, but the current version is either having the tanks run around in circles or immunity taunting him just isn’t fun. This cripples DKs, makes immunity taunters extremely powerful, and makes extra movement burst speed items like tigers lust/windrush totem/roar extremely potent.


Just make him taunt immune for the last 10%.
