Playerbase had 2 simple requests concerning loot:
1 - Please get rid of titanforging and corruption RNG. These were terrible.
2 - Please make loot more memorable and meaningful. IE give us something like the Dragonspine Trophy or obsidian edged blade… not just (stamina, primary, secondary 1, secondary 2) on all of our slots. Something that POPS and makes us go “Wow this is really neat” when we get and use it.
What Blizzard did was
1 - Cap M+ loot at 210, MUCH lower than other sources of loot.
2 - Eliminate titanforging and corruption. (GOOD JOB!)
3 - Drop loot drop rates CONSIDERABLY (they think this is “meaningful and rewarding” )
4 - Vastly improve PVP loot gearing, even it itemization is somewhat lacking (GOOD JOB!) Now please put in 3 pieces for each slot of armor/weapon so we can stack our chosen secondary along with vers.
5 - Make targeting specific items VERY difficult, impractical in practice and terms of time investment.
6 - Make the game fully and unapologetically pay to win. (can be argued against, but you buy gold from blizzard and buy in game services to gear up… that’s pay to win IMO)
7 - Add the “great vault” which replaces RNG box with more chances of RNG, like spending $5 at the slot machine instead of $1 if you’ve got the extra slots unlocked.
Now they are slowly fixing their mistakes.
1 - Valor Points system: which solves the M+ item level cap, partly, but still keeps it as a lower tier of content maxing at about an 1800 ranking with the same crap drops rates as current.
2 - Partially undoing the poor drop rates, in raid only, which are making people quit the game or just stop raiding. (or to put it in blizzard terms… are EXTREMELY meaningful and rewarding)
Undoing something terrible you did should probably come with an apology instead of presenting it as fulfilling the requests for needed features.

Um, thanks for restoring loot to where you put it at launch? I guess it’s better than nothing.
I’d still rather see valor and a vendor for raiding so we can earn missing pieces of gear. Shriekwing’s loot table seems to be 80% cloaks.

Reading through this thread is pure gold.
The white knighting from the guy in the paypig transmog is such perfect commentary.

This will be a welcome change but it doesn’t address the problem with folks still getting loot they can’t use because its not the right type (i.e. clothie gets leather, or Plate wearer gets mail). Or even worse, you get a duplicate of what you already are using, or the piece you get is steps lower than the exact same piece you already have (because it has lower stats/ilvl).
This still is happening.

It was the quarterly earnings report that basically told them to get their ish together, they listen to THAT…

Yea to their managers when asked why players are quitting with the reason loot drop rates blow. So they had to fix it sorta.

They cut the earnings down to a trickle and everyones all upset. They say they’ll turn them back up to a fraction of what they used to be and were all good again?
The state of how desperate people are is so sad.

This is good…what about the drop rate from World Bosses? It’s abysmal as well.

Heck, I know they’re like months down the road, but any chance you could turn the loot faucet back on the timewalking raids too?
You know, keep them slightly useful. At this point people are actually running them because loot drops are so shameful, no need to kill it.

50 to 60 i got 5 armor drops and every drop other that that 6;gold from a raid and you stated 33 percent more drop bs i had to make my gearband pvp. For it
Their internal numbers must show across the board activity cratering. For this to be a reset hotfix instead of them waiting till the next patch means bleeding or full blown hemorrhaging.
They are throwing out news every week on this subject which seems like they are trying to keep people from throwing in the towel by being vocal. They only do that when things really start going wrong for them.

Like flying they just do compromises. Throw a lil back and if the players settle down then all is good.

Too bad a lot of people gave up and moved on isn’t it, Feedback is fine but knowing your player base is essential to keeping players happy and subscribed.
little too late for a lot

Will Timewalking raids be affected as well? Their loot was previously brought down to Nathria levels, but they don’t count towards the great vault, so will they be brought back up to their appropriate drop %?
That’s a bug. Have you reported it? I haven’t gotten anything but leather on my druid and cloth on my mage.
How is it a little late? You do realize we have more raids coming right and this is only the first raid and not only that, believe it or not, people could still use upgrades as we all haven’t been getting much loot from the bad drop rate. I am also pretty sure this change will go forward in the next raids.
I have a question for all of you over at Blizz.
Did you make this change because you felt you made a mistake in reducing loot drops and if so why not increase all instanced content loot drops . Or was this a similar situation to the flying debacle of WoD where there were a significant drop in subs and you were forced to reverse directions. Most likely due to pressure from higher up in the Activision - Blizzard food chain?

Shadowlands is just about the fastest I quit an xpac. Only xpac I ever quit tho was BFA and I played for atleast the first patch before I left and eventually I did come back for the last patch for a month and left again. This expansion could be great but the progression, RNG and horrific like HORRIFIC class balance 10x worse than BFAs even with corruptions has killed any interest I have in this game. I used to play WoW just about everyday but … now I play maybe 2 or 3 times a week and for an hour or 3 at the most before I get bored out my mind or frustrated.

Good. Haven’t seen a raid drop in two weeks.
