Raid – The Roots of Midnight ( Fan Made)

Location: Haranir, beneath the roots of Elun’ahir

Raid Size: 10–30 Players

Bosses: 10

Final Boss: Xal’atath, Harbinger of the Black Heart

The Story

Hidden beneath the emerald canopy of Haranir lies one of Azeroth’s oldest sanctuaries.

Before the Titans ordered the world…

Before the Dragon Aspects took flight…

Before even the Well of Eternity…

The first roots of Elun’ahir pierced the world here, connecting Life itself to Azeroth’s World Soul.

For millennia, the Haranir protected these sacred roots in complete secrecy. They believed that as long as the Heartroot endured, Life would always have a chance to flourish.

But the coming of the Void changes everything.

As Xal’atath’s armies invade Quel’Thalas, her greatest servants descend beneath Haranir. They do not seek conquest.

They seek corruption.

The Void has discovered that Elun’ahir’s roots reach directly toward Azeroth’s sleeping World Soul. If those roots are twisted into conduits of Shadow, the corruption would spread into the very heart of the planet.

The Haranir fight desperately to contain the infection, but every fallen guardian feeds the darkness.

The forests begin to whisper.

Animals become horrors.

Ancient spirits lose themselves.

Even the light filtering through the leaves turns violet.

Champions of Azeroth must descend into the Heartroot before the corruption reaches the World Soul itself.

Raid Environment

The raid begins within breathtaking ancient forests untouched since the dawn of Azeroth.

As players descend deeper, the forest changes.

Golden leaves become black crystal.

Living roots pulse with violet veins.

The music shifts from peaceful nature to unsettling whispers carried by the wind.

By the final chambers, the roots of Elun’ahir resemble living galaxies wrapped in Void energy.

Boss One

Thornkeeper Elaris

The oldest Haranir guardian.

She refuses to abandon her duty even as the Void consumes her mind.

Mechanics

• Purify corrupted roots.

• Dodge waves of thorn magic.

• Save friendly Haranir before they’re transformed.

Boss Two

The Hollow Bloom

A gigantic flower created when Life and Void merged.

Its petals constantly open and close, changing the arena.

Spores infect players with growing corruption unless cleansed by beams of living sunlight.

Boss Three

Echoes of the First Forest

Ancient memories of Azeroth’s primordial wilderness have been corrupted.

Players fight manifestations of forgotten predators that existed before recorded history.

Each creature mutates throughout the encounter.

Boss Four

The Twilight Stag

Once the greatest guardian spirit of Haranir.

Now transformed into a majestic yet terrifying avatar of Shadow.

The encounter revolves around balancing Light and Darkness to restore portions of the battlefield while surviving devastating charges.

Boss Five

The Choir of Silence

Five Void Heralds perform an endless ritual.

Instead of traditional attacks, they manipulate sound.

Raid communication becomes the mechanic.

Players must coordinate movements while whispers attempt to confuse them with false instructions.

Boss Six

Rootbinder Naelor

Leader of the Haranir defenders.

Believing corruption inevitable, he attempts to destroy Elun’ahir’s roots himself.

Players must stop him without killing him, breaking Xal’atath’s influence during the final moments.

He survives and joins the battle afterward.

Boss Seven

The Black Sap

The corruption itself has become sentient.

It floods through the arena like living liquid darkness.

The battlefield constantly changes shape as enormous roots rise and collapse beneath players.

Every mistake causes the corruption to spread.

Boss Eight

Vesh’kar, Herald of the Deep Void

One of Xal’atath’s oldest generals.

Neither mortal nor Old God.

Its body shifts between impossible geometric forms.

Reality bends throughout the encounter.

Gravity changes.

Time slows.

Entire sections of the battlefield disappear into nothingness before returning seconds later.

Boss Nine

The Heartroot

The central root of Elun’ahir.

Unable to distinguish friend from enemy, the World Tree’s living heart attacks everyone nearby.

Players alternate between healing the Heartroot and battling manifestations of the Void erupting from within it.

The encounter ends not with death—but purification.

The Heartroot awakens.

Its light burns away much of the surrounding corruption.

A path opens to the deepest chamber.

Final Boss

Xal’atath

Harbinger of the Black Heart

At the very center of Haranir, Xal’atath completes her ritual.

The roots of Elun’ahir wrap around a massive crystal of condensed Void energy suspended above the sleeping World Soul.

She smiles as the champions arrive.

“You are too late.”

Phase One

The Whispering Dark

Xal’atath manipulates fear.

Players periodically see different versions of the battlefield.

Only one reality is true.

Trust between allies becomes essential.

Phase Two

Eclipse of Life

The roots themselves become corrupted.

Living branches attack the raid while pools of Void consume the arena.

Players channel the power of Elun’ahir to restore safe ground.

Phase Three

The Black Heart Awakens

The Void crystal cracks open.

Stars vanish overhead.

The chamber appears suspended within an endless cosmic abyss.

Xal’atath unleashes pure Void energy while calling down fragments of forgotten worlds consumed by Shadow.

Final Phase

Midnight

The purified Heartroot answers the champions’ resolve.

Ancient Life magic floods the chamber.

The Haranir join the battle.

The Dragonflights arrive from above, tearing open the cavern roof.

Beams of emerald, bronze, red, blue, and bronze dragon magic intertwine with Elun’ahir’s light.

For one final moment, Life stands united against the Void.

Players shatter the Black Heart before Xal’atath can complete the corruption.

She is not destroyed.

Laughing, she allows herself to dissolve into living shadow.

“My purpose is fulfilled.”

“You have already lost.”

Ending Cinematic

The corruption recedes from Haranir.

Golden light flows once more through Elun’ahir’s roots.

The Haranir kneel as the ancient forest awakens.

Yet deep beneath Azeroth, the World Soul stirs uneasily.

The corruption has been halted—but not erased.

Far away, the Sunwell flickers.

Across Quel’Thalas, priests and magi turn their eyes toward the sky.

The stars are disappearing.

One by one.

As Xal’atath’s voice echoes across the heavens:

“Midnight has only just begun.”

The screen fades to black.
