Racial talent tree idea

It’s basically a request to choose your racials along with a race tooltip name change baised on which culture you wish to be from.

Like you choose stormhammer/a gryphon racial if you want your dwarf to be a wildhammer dwarf, or if you want to be a dark iron dwarf you choose the dark iron racials for instance.

Kinda like specs or talents but for races.

To add both rp and reinstate the culture your “sub” race is from.

Basically yeah, ones reflective on them being different peoples of seperate cultures.

Ah, so there is an ability component as well which drives it is what I was missing?

Yes.

As it would feel silly tool tip naming your dwarf wildhammer, but using say a mole machine which is inheritly dark iron for example.

Thinking of it, i was wondering if this idea can be expanded on worgens, allowing a choice of human or night elf worgen for two forms.

Nope. A Dwarf is a Dwarf is a Dwarf in this game. Just different tattoos.

That dwarf is not that kind of dwarf!

This is actually a pretty solid idea… existing Allie’s race sub-races could simply have their talents and customizations locked until you’ve done their unlock requirements… and other sub-races that are tied to unlockable customizations similarly could have their talents locked until the customizations have been unlocked on your account.

So a new account would have Bronzebeard and Wildhammer Dwarf options until they complete the unlock scenario for Dark Iron.

The biggest issues I see though are the following races:

Human/Kul Tiran - 100% different models, merging the two would basically just be a toggle between Stormwind and Kul’Tiran Human model… which I’m sure some people do actually want…

Gnome/Mechagnome - despite how similar the models look, Mechagnomes are NOT just a simple arm/leg swap on the regular Gnome model… the entire torso and pelvis has been reshaped to accommodate the mechanical limbs.

Trolls - when it comes to Zandalari Males it’s a simple toggle between the two models… females however… use the same model but at different scales.

Beyond that… it’s all just textures and new additions… however a system like this would also have to wait for race/class restrictions to be lifted more…

Which would morelikely happen rather then not though. The quiestion is when. (Classes)

The rest could simply send you directly into barber shop mode when you want to “swap models” per say.

Personally I don’t think forced model swap should be a thing… if someone wants to be a Kul’Tiran with the slim figure of a Stormwind Human so be it… or vice’versa…

I agree on this actually. I think model swapping should be an option baseline on humans and a few other races. As well as skinny humans an option too.

Forced model swapping should only be appropiated on specific instances like say mecha gnome vs regular gnome (all gnomes in mechagon has amputated features after all) or say with different troll tribes. In fact i think this could open up forest troll models too through this (beefier trolls ya know)

Eh. I would just generally buff each racial to give back that distinct racial advantage over introducing a whole tree for it.

Problem with that is that sub races would still not be represented in the “buffed racials” other then looks. It looks bad already with wildhammers being watered down to being like bronzebeards when they have little in common besides they are angry dwarves.

Especially when we know that Wildhammer, had they been made a distinct full race, would have had a very different racial trait from both Bronzebeard and Dark Iron (who’s racial abilities are almost identical)… Wildhammer Dwarves are the most distinct culturally and as a result ability wise of all dwarves… Dark Iron and Bronzebeard are almost identical in every way when it comes to their cultures, they only differed on a few minor view points as a people. And even after being altered by Ragnaros, the Dark Iron are still not much different from Bronzebeard…

I still think it’s not fair to wildhammer fans that dark irons was made their own race while wild hammers is just made customization. It also makes little sense lore wise as you said. If dark irons warranted their own race, then surely wild hammer would had as well.

At any case, if they make a racial talent/spec feature in WoW, then condensing races into their main race would absolve this issue anyways.

If your sub race culture had a selection of racials you can choose to represent them, what would it be gd?
