Race: Void Elves. // Class: Paladins

Blockquote

Designer note

The concept for this boss began with a simple idea: anti-paladin, or “dark vindicator.” What would a corrupted version of a draenei vindicator fight like? Many of Velhari’s abilities are a play on core Paladin mechanics such as (Un)holy Power builders and spenders, auras, and Guardians of Ancient Kings, with each of the three phases having a theme that parallels one of the Paladin class specializations.

We can start with the same stuff, a void naaru and the same stealing.

“Anti-Paladin”

I would like Void Elf paladins, I think Void Elves themselves are outrageous as it is, so why the eff not?

Paladins would look good in their heritage armor that’s all I’m saying. Give them tentacle wings instead of buttery wings!

The Light, as a force, EMBRACE everything. Look at undead prest?
Look what they tried to do with Illidan.
Even a dreadlord was embraced.

She does shadow damage. Her entire design is around the three paladin specs.

Abilities

  • Inv hammer 1h draeneipaladin c 01.png Edict of Condemnation Deadly icon.png — Edict of Condemnation inflicts 701006 Shadow damage, split among all players struck. This effect strikes every 3 sec. for 9 sec. In Mythic difficulty, Edict of Condemnation reduces the movement speed of the target by 70%.
  • Spell shadow chilltouch.png Touch of Harm Healer icon.png Magic icon.png — Places a shell of shadow magic around a player that absorbs 1361454 healing. If Touch of Harm is dispelled, the remaining absorb jumps to another random player. In Mythic difficulty, Touch of Harm inflicts 15% of the target’s current health as Shadow damage every 2 sec.
  • Spell holy sealofrighteousness.png Seal of Decay Tank icon.png — Melee attacks occasionally curse the target with shadow magic, reducing healing and absorbs received by 10% for 18 sec. This effect stacks.

Zandalari paladins are actually prelates who gain their power through the worship of the loa. Specially, they chose Rezan. But I’m sure they can still carrying on his teachings and beliefs despite his death. Plus we might be getting a new loa of kings in the form of Vol’jin.

If you view paladins in the same scope as humans, then yeah I’d agree… trolls are dumb. But if you think about prelates and sunwalkers differently through their specific cultures and beliefs, I think it actually makes it work and is kind of cool

Gnome Paladins would be better. A tiny Gnome shouts “By the Light be purged!” and then proceeds to blast you in the face with a rifle.

I believe when they showed off the new race/class combos for everyone getting rogue, mage, and priest …. You can actually see gnome paladin in his video. So it’s definitely gonna happen. Congratulations! The light doesn’t have a height requirement anymore!

How does praying to a dinosaur give you the power to wield the light? It makes no sense, even less than Sunwalkers who are literally just druids.

Agreed. I think the addition of Tauren and Troll “paladins” just shows the Devs can play fast and lose with the lore.

So, why not have void elf (and Forsaken) paladins who have same same toolset as normal paladins but just swap holy with shadow?

I guess it works cause their dino god is now in dino heaven so he gives them light powers. kek

No. Just roll horde. No excuses, it’s 2022. You can level from 1-60 in a single weekend. And I don’t want to hear “I don’t have the time” half of you have the time to do m+/raid/PVP all the time, you can level a belf paladin if you want it bad enough.

Except, it would be void magic, which naturally has different properties then light magic.

Still not paladin, as these void knights would want to torture and cause misery, which is void traits. If jot those spread void curruption and destroy.

But they also often further devolve into Void gods, this cycle also does not appear to be natural, as it is usually caused by external damage to a healthy Naaru.

I just think it would be too far of a departure

Wasn’t he in the Maw?

The Loa , Rezan, had some sort of affinity with the power of light. As his worshippers, the prelates were chosen and gifted with his power. When he was killed, a lot of prelates ceased to exist.

Agreed, sunwalkers are basically sun druids. Sun druids that choose to wear plate and smack you with a big weapon as they unleash the power of the sun on their enemies. They are getting their powers from Anshe.

Honestly this just proves why Nelf, Worgen, and Kul Tiran paladins should be a thing
