Race change to Pandaren at release of MOP?

Just posting to bump this issue.
I was stoked for MoP. I was really looking forward to turning my main hunter who has rare pet tames and my all time favorite spirit beast pet: Loque’nahak to a panda.
My mood soured some yesterday when I was unable to use my race change token, I tried to not get too bummed as I figured “probably a bug, will be fixed soon”. My mood soured completely when I later saw replies from gm’s and from the cs staff here on the forum that, nope it’s not a bug its a feature. So blizz if you actually read our cries here on the forums: you just zapped all my excitement for MoP. :dracthyr_cry_animated:

In before anyone suggests “why don’t you just spend the 3 weeks leveling a pandaren hunter” or “just boost a pandaren hunter” 1. I’ve had my hunter since 2019 classic, my main hunter has a bunch of shiny baubles and sentimental collectibles in her bank 2. my main hunter has several rare pets, pets I’ve spent hours upon hours camping for. I used to play on EU servers so when I in original MoP re-rolled on US servers I re-farmed all those rare pets, then now with classic I’ve re-farmed all those rare pets again. When Cata launched last year there were 0 restrictions on race changing to worgens and goblins. The only conclusion I can come to is that $25 for race change isn’t enough, they figure if we don’t let them race change they’ll fork out $60 for boosts.

Only way you can get an 85 Pandaren is either through the boost or a faction change.

Surprising that you can’t race change honestly.

Yes, this is correct answer, somehow Panda isn’t considered a race. How isn’t Panda a race first and foremost? :person_shrugging:

Panda started as having no faction and you get to choose later. Really seems just like a huge discrepancy vs an intention.

The ability to faction or race change really makes sense unless Panda isn’t considered a race…

Just adding my 2 cents with the reply I got when I submitted a support ticket:

“Regarding the issue changing your character to Pandaren with the Race Change, well, it is unfortunate that with the update of Mists Of Pandaria, the changes to Pandaren is not possible in the time being. Only Character Boosts are available to Pandaren class for now.”

Surely if enough of us get refunds for race changes they’ll change it :slight_smile:

Still can’t race change to Pandaren on my lvl 85 hunter. Option is grayed out.

I think something is still wrong, I’m unable to race change to Pandaren on my priest (the option is greyed out). Could it be because I purchased the race change tokens when they were on sale before prepatch released?

Update your cata classic via the battle.net client. this resolved it for me and i was able to race change to pandaren!

A bit off topic but was wondering if you could take a look at the highlight hair color option for the female padaren at the barbershop… currently when switching from male to female and back it defaults to red and there is no way to change it, thank you in advance.

Faction change not working for panda to this day fix this or refund ppl blizzard

Faction change worked for me, I faction changed my Human Rogue into a Pandaren. Maybe them fixing race change messed up faction change?
