WoWgrandma is pretty successful being over 80 years old.
As a streamer myself all I have to say is âDo what you feel is right.â Your path to happiness is your own no one can make these choices for you.
Youâre never too old to stream if itâs what makes you happy.
wowgrandma had a huge boost by popular streamers
thats a .0001% chance for anyone else
My best buddy is an amazing digital artist and has worked on some big name contracts, but has been unemployed for years due to outsourcing and AI. He now makes a living off of contract work, but nothing like he used to do. Digital art is an oversaturated and dying line of work.
Did my bachâs in my mid 20âs. Was useful getting in the field, less so a decade later.
Iâd say itâs worth it, especially if you can pay it off as you go.
Statistically, you are not going to make it as a streamer or influencer. Do it because you want to, not to make a living off of it.
You can go to college and play WoW. Plenty of people do it.
I was gaming the whole time, but likely itâs said they way they did because they know theyâll be distracted if they donât quit.
I got my degrees in 1996 majoring in business and minoring in technology. By the time I started playing World of Warcraft my son was already seven and my daughter was five. Going back to school is not a bad idea.
All my friends left in SL season 1. I went back for a degree in biotechnology with a focus on parenteral biopharmaceuticals. I think it was worth it, and it has opened many doors for me. Give the degree a shot, business is broadly applicable.
A collage shouldnât take more than a couple days to finish up, so⌠sure?
do trade
college. Collage is a medium of art.
Yeah, finishing college might be a good idea.
its over man. just stick with wow and enjoy the last few years you got left.
i think a spelling class could maybe be your first stop
Try playing less wow and add college to your routine.
Collage obviously, or other paper crafts. Or possible Spelling.
Trade school. Things like mechanics, carpentry, woodworking, electricians etc will always be needed, regardless of age. Yeah younger people will probably get picked first, but if you really focus and do something you enjoy so it comes easy maybe you can find a good, solid job for the next 15-25 years before youâd hopefully be able to retire. Good luck with whatever choice to make.
Streaming is really only for people who have money, parents, or a partner to back them financially until they reach a stage they can support themselves. Itâs a full time job and only suits a specific personality type for the work required and to catch peoples attention.
If you fail at making it a job, you will have wasted years and set yourself back financially if you donât have someone else (or are wealthy) backing you.
At 40 you have reached a stage where you should be finalizing your retirement plans and building on them. This mean having a stable job and updating/getting new skills to keep working for good pay until retirement. It also means managing/paying off debt so any courses done should keep this in mind. Setting up income streams and building retirement funds are a must.
These days with so many benefits, programs, and help being removed, you will have to pay for everything yourself and it will be super expensive.
Not sure what housing is like where you are at or your situation, but planning should include how you will live when you retire i.e. downsizing, buying, selling.
Maybe when you retire you can try out the streaming thing with all your spare time, if it still exists, and be a grandma/pa who is cool to the kids lol.
As for Wow, if you can keep it to spare time then keep playing. I have been playing my whole working life. I took a break due to work privacy issues with Blizz policies at the time but returned when that job ended. I also take breaks for study as I find myself playing it too much. Otherwise itâs the cheapest form of entertainment by far.
My brother in christ, this is the easiest decision of your life. 40 and trying to become a WoW streamer is cringe. 40 and returning to college to better your future is respectable.
Iâve been working on my Bachelorâs degree in Accounting for 10 years. Iâve dropped out at least 3 times due to laziness and IRL things. The first time was laziness. The second time was because of a big move. The third time was because I had a child. I finally went back two years ago and am trucking along slowly with a full time job and a kid. Itâs still going to take me another 2-3 years at this pace to complete it, but I have reminded myself of how deeply I regretted dropping out each time, and that my prospects will be bright with the degree in conjunction with my related work experience.
Even if you do it at a slow pace, it is still a forward motion. A degree is investing in your future. Do it. Literally anything is better than being a streamer. Most cringe âcareerâ choice anyone can make.
Never too old to go back. Also, Tampa Bay Bucs are my team. I was born on the Air Force Base at the end of Dale Mabry Hwy (past the stadium). Grew up watching them with my grandfather back in the 80s when Vinny Testeverde was still a QB <3
