Quitting over... a raiding guild?

You lost me at the second you complained about weak auras.

how do you know?

Cya let the door hit you on the way out

OP sounds like a real treat.

I suspect there’s a lot of talk, but not much action in this situation.

It’s training wheels if you’re a bad player. For those of us who already are able to do the mechanics without it it’s just a helpful way to have warnings and assignments dolled out.

WA cannot make a bad player good and doesn’t make a good player bad. You’re aware that those players wouldve found a way to die regardless I’m sure, meanwhile for Terrors that assignment was crucial when first doing it because people were undergeared still, and it’d be very hard to live coordinate people into lines without it, especially once there’s 6-7.

weakaura’s give a massive advantage and a guild using the same addons has much more coherency than a guild who doesnt, if you dont use them i wouldnt want you on my team either

First off, the manner in which you are voicing your frustrations here is consistent with how most toxic people communicate. You blamed your death on something, but the swirlies in that fight do come out hard and fast; good players never blame their misplays, and that’s the personal growth point most useful to you here. Giving you the benefit of the doubt that you’ve just reached a boiling point and you’re venting.

That said, not all guilds are like that. When I came back into the raid scene in SL, my S1 guild was very much like that. I’ve had experience raid/heal leading during WotLK and I stepped up in this guild
and the guild lead would behave much like the raid leader you’re describing. It was toxic, and I pivoted our core players in the guild (note, not just raiders) away from it by forming a new guild.

Today, not only did they shift to our most recent guild after I had to step away and others server transferred, but they’re thriving more than ever and nip the stuff you’re seeing in the bud quick.

Good guilds exist, but much like learning to play your class, one needs to learn how to quickly evaluate and iterate to find them.

That said, nobody is forcing you to do group content in an MMO. In fact, this preservation of group content in this regard is WoW’s greatest strength after mechanical depth. You’re speaking from a position of doing Heroic raid, which means you’re more than able to just drop down to normal and floor it, if you just want to see and play the content.

Instead, you’re complaining about being forced into an optional activity at a level higher than you need to be in to achieve your stated goal; your words are not matching your actions.

You could drop difficulty and play in a lane more akin to a solo player experience but you don’t do that.

Everything after that decision is on you. Full stop.

As someone who prefers to play without DBM/Wigs as a crutch, I agree with you

Rather, a player strong enough to play consistency without WA is a rare rare rare rare breed, and the only role that can typically hang without it without loosing oomph is a healer, due to how dynamic and fluid healing tends to be.

In my case, I don’t use WA and Wigs because I need to, and more often than not it’s just as good as white noise BUT my TEAM requires it, and thus I have it.

And most people on my TEAM definitely need it, and my familiarity with these tools helps my TEAM.

Besides just being a team player, there’s still benefit to others by me running these addons.

And that’s the thing OP is hard missing in their post; they’re a solo player doing well that is refusing to help their group with such a stance and then getting upset that the team doesn’t do team stuff!

Sounds more like you wanted to join a team activity and not be a team player

Sorry you went through this but yea its just not the right group for you. I’m trying to find a guild as well that will do some raiding but its a challenge when I am the only one that picked back up on wow. good luck to you

I prefer the smaller group settings to the big raids anyway. I have a good group of players in my guild that run mythic + and I enjoy that more than raiding. With my job I just don’t have the time and energy for raiding.

I don’t understand requiring WA if your DPS is already good enough.

I also don’t understand hating WA. Maybe I use it differently, but all I use it for is to track my player power up closer to my char and my important CDs. That’s so I can actually keep my eyes focused in the middle where my char is without having to move my bars up there, which among other things, would look like garbage.

Stopped reading here. I’m thinking you were probably the problem.

I want anyone in this room to raise their hand if they have cutting edge without using a single addon.

When people say “find a guild” they expect you to put literally any effort into vetting them instead of joining one that was conveniently first in a guild finder list. Did you interview them? Did you ask any questions at all? It’s pretty bananas to me that you would put so little thought and effort into making sure that the people you’re going to be spending time with are people you would want to spend time with.

I couldn’t tell you if another guild would have been better, but I can say that the blame for selecting them lies firmly and exclusively with you.

I completely understand this guys frustration. My guild has had an average of say 14 ppl throughout the xpacks. We had zero diversity, we struggle on normal.

I was fed up with it last xpack at the end. I was 1 of 2 tanks in the guild. The perpetual carrying and wiping wasnt fun. Now i was bumped out of my role of tanking for someone with very little experience could tank that is also tight with the other tank who is an officer in the guild. So for the first time since WotLK i am trying a new spec maybe a new class. We now have double druid tanks.

We also are heavy on hunters and druid. So now were are 25 and we still pug anothe 4 ppl. We arent trimming the fat for progression. No one is paying attention. I play a paladin so im trying to learn ret and i am struggling really bad. I dont feel my damage is good enough so i took leave of raid. I refuse to be carried and add tonthe problem.

I might be looking for a guild soon as well.

A raiding guild won’t put up with toxic baddies like him.

Okay if you have played wow as long as you say you would know this s*** type of happens all the time.
There are 1000s of this type of behavior. No matter what game you go with a group you will run in .

There a very simple solution for you

I mean it depends on the encounter but alot of them were designed with weakauras and dungeon addons in mind. That is what blizzard considers baseline and they specifically design these encounters to be more complicated than something you can completely 100% autopilot with WA and other helper addons. Which presents a problem if you dont have them because you are by default way behind the curve in terms of speed and efficiency.

And again to reiterate, with the terros WA in particular, if you have say 11/12 players in a raid using the WA, that 12th player effectively renders the WA useless by not using it.

Its purpose is to doll out sides automatically so that people would spread evenly. It wasnt uncommon in the first few weeks nor is it uncommon now to see 4 or in some cases 5 people on a side, why? Because someone doesnt have the WA. Its fine now that players are overgearing it, but two weeks ago? These players werent “doing just fine” without the WA , they were wiping groups playing russian roulette and hoping they would go to the correct side multiple times in a fight.

DPS isn’t what wins encounters.

It’s mechanics. Mechanics often that are handled by Weak Aura assignements. You can tunnel boss and do the boss DPS in the world, I’m kicking you if you’re not clearing your Conductive Mark and spreading it to everyone in melee who because of it, can’t dps at all.
