Quit Complaining About Buying Flying

Whose decision was it?

Anything that jumps us equal to the first 2 weeks of any patch launch which always ALWAYS has tons of stuff then they take it away to keep us from the hard core players… oh no a casual is catching up quick lets stop the patch intro stuff so it takes them 10 times longer what the hard core got in 2 hours… lets keep them in the casual spot forever!!!

That is how I feel about it. in game and life… make the commoners suffer

Nah I’d rather just pathfinder than having to pay and do pathfinder :+1:

Thanks  the wording is quite confusing

Upon completing a quest contained within the “The Last Sigil” storyline, you’ll be rewarded with Memories of Sunless Skies.

So at this point I think of this

Which says it teaches you Shadowlands flying  but then it goes on to say

This consumable item allows all characters on your account to purchase the Riding Skill needed to fly within the four main Shadowlands zones!

So I dunno :man_shrugging:

I’ll have to wait for clarification or see for myself when it goes live. I’m not too fond of uninformed rage

The article that gives the exact specifics of everything including the information recently released, that includes the link to the actual item given which specifically says account wide flying unlock and nothing about riding skill needing to be bought?

Or the video that again shows the full exact process of unlocking flying, as it is done, and using it after?

All of it . This is the latest from today

Read the 2nd paragraph

If we’re blaming game directors then Tom Chilton is your man. The guy everyone remembers so fondly, even though back in the day they hated him (it’s funny how this trend works). Ion was an encounter designer. He designed instanced PvE, unless that has something to do with flying all of a sudden.

Blizzard’s post is confusing, the item says “unlocks flying” but they say “lets you purchase the riding skill needed to fly” So which is it? Does the item reward flying or do players need to purchase something

I thought it was Ion and Afriasabi or however you spelll his name.

Blizzard confusingly wording a press release doesn’t change the text of the item, footage of using the item and personal experience of using it right now in PTR, unless they are going to suddenly change it later to require riding training after.

Because nothing ever changes from PTR to live?

You mean like the OP? LOL

Pretty much.

I think Fairlight has it correct:

So it’s just there to make sure you buy the riding skill associated.

The article says you can unlock flying in two weeks once 9.1 releases.

The logical assumption is riding skill equals one of the current riding skills we have. It requires 225 riding skill. So you have to have purchased 225 riding skill.

Alex Afrasiabi was never the game director.

I’ve used it in the PTR this is now saying instead of unlocking flying for all toons it allows them to buy the skill to fly in SL .

Well, it started in MoP, that much is true.

This is what he said:

" At this point, we feel that outdoor gameplay in World of Warcraft is ultimately better without flying. We’re not going to be reintroducing the ability to fly in Draenor, and that’s kind of where we’re at going forward."

That was from an interview in 2015, at which point in time he was the WoW Assistant Game Director under Tom Chilton, so he wasnt exactly at the bottom of the food chain. And he has said a fair few times that he doesn’t like flight in the game.

Yes. /10char

I’ll complain all I want because all this restriction on flight is, at this point, ridiculous.

The exact wording of their post is

This consumable item allows all characters on your account to purchase the Riding Skill needed to fly within the four main Shadowlands zones!

but what you’re saying sounds like “This consumable item allows all characters on your account that have the necessary riding skill to fly will be able to fly”

Two weeks seems fair, that’s usually how long Pathfinder pt 2 takes anyways.

Part 2 took me months in BfA because of rep.
